If the Toronto Blue Jays want to earn the second Wild Card spot, they're going to have to beat teams like the Kansas City Royals. And yes, their remaining 30 games are all against teams currently under .500.
While the Royals have won eight straight, the Jays are catching them with the struggling Seth Lugo on the bump tonight.
The former ace has allowed five earned runs in three of his last four starts and is in the middle of the worst season of his career, sporting a career-high 5.18 xERA and .280 xBA. He's simply not missing bats, and the Jays are about to take advantage at home.
I'd play this up to -140 and ride with a bounce-back performance from Max Scherzer.
COVERS INTEL: Is today the day we see a power surge from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at home? Yes, we all know he hasn't hit a homer yet at the Rogers Centre, but Lugo has a 42% hard-hit rate this year, and Vladdy owns a .378 xBA and .497 xSLG against him.
Royals vs Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)
While I believe Vladdy will be the driving force behind the Blue Jays' offense, there's a good chance we see some runs from both sides.
Salvador Perez and Vinnie Pasquantino both own an xSLG of .500 or better against Scherzer, which should help us cross the number for our Over play.
We'll see some offense tonight, but I'm expecting the Blue Jays' much better bullpen to take them home in the later stages of the game.

We might as well double-dip with Vladdy here. While he did go 0-for-4 in the third game of the series against the Yankees, he was riding an eight-game hitting streak prior to that.
You better believe he's heard all the talk surrounding his power outage at home, but tonight is a perfect night to rip the monkey off his back.
Lugo will live in the zone, is not overpowering, and is getting barreled this season. It's time for Vlad to get one; we'll take advantage at this price.
