The new-look Boston Red Sox, who just surprisingly traded Rafael Devers, begin a three-game set with the Seattle Mariners tonight at T-Mobile Park.

Logan Gilbert returns from the IL here, and my Red Sox vs. Mariners predictions are eyeing him to find some success. Read more in my MLB picks for Monday, June 16.

Red Sox vs Mariners prediction

My Red Sox vs Mariners best bet: Logan Gilbert Over 6.5 strikeouts (-120 at Caesars)

The Seattle Mariners have faced numerous injuries this season. One player they’ve missed is Logan Gilbert, who hasn’t pitched since late April after suffering an elbow injury. He’s back from the IL tonight, and the righty will get to pitch at home.

Before going on the shelf, Gilbert was 1-1 in six starts with an impressive 2.37 ERA, striking out 44 hitters in just 30 1/3 innings of work. That will be my focus because he’s always been a guy who misses a lot of bats. The 27-year-old racked up 220 punchouts in 208 2/3 frames last year for Seattle and has averaged 9 2/3 strikeouts per nine innings in his MLB career.

Prior to landing on the IL, Gilbert cashed the Over in strikeouts in five of six outings. The only reason he cashed the Under in his last start was because Gilbert exited early with the elbow issue.

While a handful of hitters in this Boston Red Sox lineup have enjoyed success against him, Boston also has the third-most strikeouts in the Big Leagues in 2025 behind only the Angels and Rockies. Yes, they just swept the Yankees, but the Devers trade also undoubtedly shocked the locker room.

Regardless, I expect Gilbert to bring his swing-and-miss stuff this evening.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Red Sox vs Mariners same-game parlay (SGP)

Logan Gilbert Over 6.5 strikeouts

Cal Raleigh Over 0.5 hits

Julio Rodriguez Over 0.5 hits

Cal Raleigh is having a monster campaign and is on track to break catcher records due to his ridiculous power. The 28-year-old has already smacked 26 home runs while hitting .263. Raleigh has cashed the Over in hits in six of his last eight contests.

Although Raleigh has never faced Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito, the right-hander is having a terrible season, with an ERA over 5.00 and opponents batting .301 against him. Raleigh is swinging it well lately, and that will continue in the series opener.

Over to Julio Rodriguez, who has had success with Giolito on the bump. He’s 2-for-3 lifetime with a pair of singles. J-Rod is also hitting .261 so far and has cashed the Over in hits in five of his last six contests. During that span, Rodriguez also had four multi-hit games. The franchise cornerstone is really starting to heat up.

In fact, Rodriguez is hitting .340 in June, and he’s 4-for-14 this season against the Red Sox. He’ll stay hot with the struggling Giolito on the mound.
