The Boston Red Sox come into tonight’s contest on a five-game win streak as they look to earn another victory over the struggling San Francisco Giants and continue their climb up the AL East. Meanwhile, the Giants have just two wins in their last nine contests and will try to turn things around on home turf.

Triston Casas had another big night at the plate for Boston in Friday’s win and will look to carry his club to victory once again.

Can Casas and the Red Sox continue their push up the standings? We’ll discuss in our Red Sox vs Giants MLB picks and predictions for Saturday, July 29.

Red Sox vs Giants predictions

The Red Sox eked out a 3-2 win in the series opener on Friday thanks to a strong start from Kutter Crawford and another big night at the plate from Triston Casas. Crawford went 5.2 innings deep while allowing only one earned run on three hits while the hottest hitter in the majors recorded a homer as well as an RBI double to lift Boston to victory.

Casas has been the driving force behind Boston’s success early on in the second half, with the first baseman leading the MLB in batting average (.472), slugging percentage (1.139), and on-base plus slugging (1.707) while co-leading in home runs (7).

The Red Sox slugger has 16 homers and 40 RBI on the season, with 44%of his home runs and 33% of his RBI coming in the 12 games since the All-Star break.

Casas enters tonight’s contest with at least one RBI in five straight outings, driving in eight total runs over that span. The payout on another RBI for Casas is pretty sweet, so I’ll look for him to continue his hot streak tonight in San Francisco.

My best bet: Casas Over 0.5 RBI (+205 at DraftKings)

Red Sox vs Giants same-game parlay

Casas Over 0.5 RBI (+205)

Giants Under 3.5 Runs (+100)

Red Sox Over 4.5 Runs (+115)

We’re swinging for the fences in tonight’s same-game parlay with three plus payouts. Along with an RBI for Casas, I’m banking on another low-scoring effort from the Giants and a solid offensive output from the streaking Red Sox.

San Francisco has just two wins in its last nine games, and a lot of that comes down to its offensive ineptitude. The Giants are averaging a mere 2.33 runs per game over that span and have scored more than three runs just once over that span. I’m looking for them to struggle again tonight and stay Under 3.5 runs.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox have been cruising offensively with 5.80 runs per game during their five-game win streak. With Casas leading the way and a reliever taking the mound for the Giants, they should have no problem cashing the Over on 4.5 runs tonight.

Red Sox vs Giants moneyline and Over/Under analysis

Despite Boston’s hot run, the visitors have only the slight edge tonight, opening at -113 on the moneyline with San Francisco getting +105 at home. Some books actually have this one as a pick ‘em, moving the Giants to around -105 by Saturday morning. Regardless, I’m sticking with the streaking Red Sox as I think their offensive edge will carry them to another win.

Boston is scoring 5.67 runs per game in their 12 contests since the All-Star break while San Francisco is down at just 3.79 runs over 14 games. The Giants’ top two hitters, Michael Conforto and J.D. Davis, have combined for just three RBI over the last five games.

Tonight’s total opened at 8.5 runs and the Under looks like the clear play to me. Along with their strong offensive output, the Red Sox have also benefited from great pitching, which has led to them cashing the Under in four straight games and five of their last six outings. The Under is also 4-1 in the Giants’ last five contests, primarily because they’ve scored two runs or fewer in four of those games.

Starting pitchers

James Paxton (6-2, 3.46 ERA): Paxton last pitched on July 22 when he surrendered three hits and three runs (two earned) to the Mets over six innings. The right-hander is currently in the midst of his worst month of the season as he’s posted a 6.00 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP through three starts in July — mostly due to a six-run shellacking against the Cubs on July 15.

Ryan Walker (3-0, 2.70 ERA): It’ll be a bullpen game for the Giants as reliever Walker makes just his seventh start and 25th appearance of the season. The right-hander also started his last game on July 26, lasting just 2.2 innings while holding the Athletics to one hit and no runs. Walker’s longest outing this season in three innings so we’ll see plenty of arms on the Giants mound tonight.
