Two of the best records in the MLB collide in Chavez Ravine as the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.

My Rays vs. Dodgers predictions don’t think that plus money should be offered anytime the underdog has a substantial starting pitching advantage.

My MLB picks for June 16 believe that’s exactly what Drew Rasmussen provides for the visitors.

Who will win Rays vs Dodgers today: Rays moneyline (+130)

Both starting pitchers have an alluring ERA below 3.00, but they’ve arrived at the number in contrasting ways.

Drew Rasmussen is a certified ace sporting a 2.90 xERA. He generates strikeouts (27.3%) and limits walks (4.6%). When the ball is put in play, it’s usually hit softly (90th percentile average exit velocity) and on the ground (83rd percentile ground ball rate).

With the wind blowing out in homer-friendly Dodger Stadium, his profile is a perfect neutralizer.

The market is still pricing a Dodgers premium because of the offense and home-field advantage, but the gap between Rasmussen and Justin Wrobleski is larger than the current moneyline implies.

Play the Tampa Bay Rays to +120.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Wrobleski doesn’t generate strikeouts (seventh percentile) or grounders (33rd percentile), and allows lots of loud contact (26th percentile hard-hit rate). He throws his slider 33% of the time, and the Rays destroy them (fifth in runs above average).

Rays vs Dodgers Over/Under pick: Over 8.5 (+100)

There are runs in the forecast with a temperature of 72 degrees and winds of 9 mph blowing out to dead center.

Wrobleski's ERA still looks ace-like, but it's being propped up by unsustainably favorable batted-ball luck and home-run suppression. His .243 BABIP, 77.9% strand rate, and 6.1% HR/FB rate are all begging for regression, and that’s not baked into the total given the plus money offered on the Over.

Rasmussen is elite, but runs can still be plated when he’s on the bump. Tampa has played to the Over in 10 of his 13 starts.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have the third-worst bullpen ERA (6.57) this month, while Tampa has the sixth-worst (5.63). Play to -110.
