Patrick Corbin isn’t the auto-fade he was a few years ago, but he’s still not great. The veteran southpaw ranks in the 32nd percentile in expected ERA, 28th in opponent expected batting average, and 23rd in strikeout rate.
One Baltimore Orioles hitter happy to see Corbin again so soon is Jackson Holliday. The young infielder was the catalyst when these teams last met, going 3-for-5 with a double, a dinger, and four RBI.
Holliday has also been seeing the ball well, hitting .300 with an .839 OPS over his last nine games, while collecting two or more bases five times in that stretch.
The Over on Holliday’s total bases is most likely priced the way it is because of the lefty-lefty matchup, but Holliday has proven he can crush Corbin, and has actually been equally as good against lefties.
