This should be one of the better matchups on this lovely Sunday for those still looking to enjoy some baseball in the middle of NFL Week 1. Following a rear-end spanking on Saturday, the New York Yankees look to bounce back as Cam Schlittler takes on Christian Scott and the New York Mets, seeking to secure the series win.
Both starters enter with completely different trajectories over their last five starts. Schlittler sports a 1.13 ERA and 0.88 WHIP while limiting barrels and hard-hit balls. On the other side, Scott has posted a 5.76 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and a 10.71% walk rate during that stretch. He's been struggling with walks all season. The Yankees should be able to exploit that, as they've produced a 10% walk rate against righties.
Scott, per Batters-Box, owns the eighth-worst pitcher rating on the day, and he'll face two elite hitters and four with strong ratings. He's also getting a poorly rated matchup ISO, hard-contact rate, and ground-ball rate.
Both lineups have been red-hot over the last few weeks, but the Yankees find themselves in a great spot this afternoon. Don't be afraid to pay the juice, but take the run line if you're unable to find this price.

Mets vs Yankees Over/Under pick: Over 7.5 (52%)
The Mets racked up 12 runs on Saturday, but they won't enjoy the same amount of offensive production against Schlittler. However, the Yankees should be able to contribute toward taking this game Over 7.5 runs.
Four of the five highest-rated Yankees in this matchup own a barrel rate above 12.3% across their last 10 games. And the lone elite-rated Met, former Yankee Juan Soto, has been putting a .533 SLG, .258 ISO, and 13.8% barrel rate during that span.
Schlittler has been dominant all season, but against left-handed hitters he allows a ton of hard-hit balls and elevated balls. His last 30 lefties faced are generating a 56.3% hard-hit rate and 62.6% elevation rate, all while owning a .379 xBA and .622 xSLG.
I fully expect another high-scoring game.
Mets vs Yankees home run prediction: Aaron Judge (27%)
There are roughly three other hitters I could highlight here who are in decent spots to boom, but Yankees captain Aaron Judge stands out the most. Mainly because Scott struggles more against right-handed hitters than lefties, and all the other hitters will be hitting from the left side.
Scott is allowing right-handed hitters to bat .294, with a .412 SLG and .366 wOBA away from home this season. Those hitters are also generating a hard-hit rate over 32% and an elevation rate of 71.1%.
Judge enters today with an elite rating on Batters-Box, and he leaves the yard nearly 30% of the time when getting that rating. The big fella has yet to go deep since returning from his injury, but the last five balls he's made contact with have come off the bat at 93 mph or harder. Three of the last five were at least 100.3 mph.
The bleachers are calling his name.
