Mariners vs Twins Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s MLB Game

The Seattle Mariners’ pitching staff hasn’t been the most consistent this season. Seattle was hoping George Kirby could make a difference when he returned from injury. Unfortunately, he’s struggled in six starts, posting a 6.16 ERA, with opponents hitting .292 off the right-hander.

However, Kirby is starting to regain his composure, which is a very good sign for the M’s. He’s allowed Under 2.5 earned runs in three of his last four outings. While Kirby did surrender four earned runs against the Chicago Cubs last Friday, he still kept his team in the game, lasting five innings.

Before that, Kirby had three consecutive quality starts. We even saw a dominant performance from the 27-year-old on June 8, striking out 14 across seven innings of two-run baseball versus the Los Angeles Angels.

Kirby is a very good starter at the big league level — it’s just taken him some time to get his feet under him this year. 

I expect him to limit the damage against the Minnesota Twins tonight, too. Minnesota has lost five straight and 11 of 12.

Matt Wallner is 3-for-5 lifetime versus the right-hander with a home run and two RBIs. 

Wallner has cashed the Over in hits in five of his last six contests as well. He does hit a mile better at home, batting .250 compared to .159 on the road. He’ll keep it rolling this evening and collect one hit, at the very least, against Kirby or the Mariners bullpen. 

The Twins' Joe Ryan is 7-3 with a 3.06 ERA in 15 outings, striking out 96 in 85 1/3 innings. That will be my focus here. Ryan misses a lot of bats, cashing the Over in Ks in back-to-back starts. 

Ryan had seven punchouts last time out against the Brewers and collected another seven before that vs. the Astros. He’s racked up 49 Ks in 38 1/3 frames at home and has struck out 14 in 40 at-bats against this Mariners lineup.
