Photo By - Imagn Images. Seattle Mariners left fielder Randy Arozarena (56) hits a two run home run.

The Seattle Mariners own a 9-2 record in August and have averaged 4.83 runs per game, one of the highest marks in the league.

My Mariners vs. Orioles predictions expect Seattle’s success to continue Thursday, with Randy Arozarena serving as a focal point offensively.

Let’s take a closer look at my August 14 MLB picks.

Mariners vs Orioles prediction

Mariners vs Orioles best bet: Randy Arozarena Over 1.5 total bases (+105)

Randy Arozarena has enjoyed a nice power surge this season. He has 23 homers through 119 games, tying his career high with a healthy chunk of the season still to be played.

He also has 32 extra base hits against right-handed pitching and draws an exploitable righty this afternoon in Tomoyuki Sugano.

Sugano has given up plenty of power to both sides of the plate. Playing in Baltimore, one of the more hitter friendly environments in the majors, won’t help his cause on Thursday.

Arozarena profiles well against Sugano’s pitch mix. Sugano’s go-to pitch against righties is the sweeper, which Arozarena is sporting a .289 ISO against.

He has a higher ISO vs. the sweeper than any of the four most frequent pitches he’s seen this season.

Also working in Arozarena’s favor is playing outside of Seattle. He has averaged an extra 0.2 bases per game and cleared 1.5 bases at a 9% higher rate on the road this season.

We should see fireworks in this game – the 9.5 total is the highest of any contest today outside of Coors Field – and Arozarena is likely to play a big part.

Mariners vs Orioles same-game parlay (SGP)

Randy Arozarena Over 1.5 total bases

J.P. Crawford Over 0.5 singles

Mariners -1.5

J.P. Crawford is a singles machine. He has at least one single in 58% of his games this season and 63% of road dates.

He owns a .288 average against right-handed pitchers while Sugano has allowed a higher average to lefties than righties.

The Seattle Mariners haven’t scored a ton in this series but they entered play one of the hottest offenses in the league.

I expect that to shine through in a matchup against Sugano.
