Diamondbacks vs Rangers best bet: Merrill Kelly Under 2.5 earned runs (-145 at BET99)
Merrill Kelly came over to the Texas Rangers at the trade deadline after serving as the Arizona Diamondbacks’ most consistent starter this season. In 24 starts, he’s gone 9-7 with a 3.38 ERA, striking out 131 in 138 2/3 innings while walking just 43 batters.
While the right-hander did give up four earned runs last time out against the Philadelphia Phillies, he put together a dominant streak before that. Kelly had cashed the Under in earned runs surrendered in five consecutive outings, only allowing more than one run once during that span.
I’m definitely playing into the revenge narrative here, too. While there’s no bad blood by any means between Kelly and the Diamondbacks, there’s always extra motivation for any player when he faces his ex-team.
Essentially, all of this Arizona lineup has never seen Kelly, which stands to reason as he was with the ball club for the last number of years. Pitchers typically have the advantage in such a scenario.
Overall, he’s having a very consistent year, and I do believe Kelly will put his best foot forward and help Texas avoid the sweep.

Zac Gallen takes on Kelly this afternoon, but the righty has struggled in 2025.
He’s been a completely different pitcher than in past years. Gallen owns a 9-12 record and 5.31 ERA, with opponents hitting nearly .260.
Although Gallen has cashed the Under in earned runs allowed in back-to-back outings, he does have an ERA well over 5.00 on the road. Day games are also not his forte, compiling a 5.94 ERA across nine appearances this season. He’s given up Over 2.5 earned runs in two of his previous three road outings, too.
Corey Seager is one of the hitters on the Texas roster who has enjoyed himself against Gallen. He’s 8-for-25 lifetime with one double. That means seven of his hits have been singles, and that’s the focus with this pick.
Seager has cashed the Over in singles in four of his last six contests. Of his 87 hits this season, 54 have been singles.
