The finest golfers in the world have descended upon Augusta National Golf Club this week for the 88th edition of the Masters.

The Masters odds have World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler, in the lead position, trailed by 2022 champion Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele, and Brooks Koepka. Rahm aims to retain his 2023 victory, while the remaining contenders hope to secure their inaugural Green Jacket after previous near misses.

Most of the Masters picks and predictions you read this week will be focused on that fearsome fivesome, but there's another golfer you shouldn't overlook: Patrick Reed. Find out why the former Masters winner should be part of your golf picks as the tournament nears.

Reed is being overlooked

A lackluster start to the 2024 LIV Golf season has Patrick Reed carrying an inflated price heading into the season's first major.

The 2018 Masters winner has carded another three Top-10 results since his win, including last year’s T4 when he finished third in true strokes gained around-the-green, sixth in true strokes tee-to-green, and 11th in true strokes gained putting.

It's also encouraging that he gained strokes on the field in medium and short approaches and on the greens during his T9 showing at LIV Miami this past weekend, and he also finished T4 at the Asian Tour’s Macau event in March. Reed has also been historically streaky, so the consecutive Top 10 results leading into the Masters is all the more encouraging.

I also value Reed’s solid track record in major championships. He’s played the weekend in 16 of his past 17 majors with nine Top 20 results. Simply put, his elite short game, ability to play difficult tracks, and Masters history aren’t priced correctly as of Tuesday.

Reed's odds are too good to pass up

There is also a nice edge in the available odds. Reed is trading at +6,500 through DraftKings, so we’re landing a positive expected value of 14% with the +7,500 FanDuel price.

It’s also noteworthy that Reed is priced at a shorter number in futures markets to win each of the other three major championships, despite Augusta National being the site of his lone major victory and a track he’s both familiar with and has excelled at.

Pick: Patrick Reed to win outright (+7,500 at FanDuel, 0.25 units)
Pick: Patrick Reed Top 30 (-105 at DraftKings)
