First off Mavin, let me start off by saying H E L L ya :) as I stated 3 weeks ago when I first come in this thread, don't have a lot of time to always post. Great place to discuss things :) even if some are wrong at times( who's always right?)
Using some discipline, taking my own look at games and cross referencing them with capers on here, I've put myself up 10,000 in the last 3 weeks since first posting here :) starting with 100. lets here a PHUCK ya for that :)
Phixer,..... Regarding my last comment to you. Again there was zero disrespect towards you in my questioning the NY total that day. I simply wanted to see why you liked it under because I liked the opposite, simply to cross reference ideas on it. As you stated myself wanting to be an " Internet attention female" not even close and I will forget you mentioned that :) I pick the games damn well, just not always the 2 or 3 I write down that win for me. Your good, more than just you are here :) I just personally like to read why someone with your record, has a game the way I don't like it. :) keep up what your doing Phixer, king, cp, turbo, lopel, there's more :) I wish I had more time to sit down all day and cap the games. I've got my reasoning on games, and love to come in here and see others reasoning. See if mine fits in along with what's being mentioned. That's what I love about this tread :) . I don't hear lock in here, that makes me feel there's good capers here because nothing is a lock.
Like Chicago last night. Good thing to learn on, I don't eer like to bet against a team that's beat the other team handily the last 4 or 5 times they played in either house. That's maybe what many could learn from that one. DONT BET AGAINST A STREAK, one thing I've learned. If you don't like it don't play it. I layed off that game because of the line movement :( when I wanted to play Chi. Kinda like people betting last week for OKC to end Denver's streak.
Don't listen to the trolls, don't even respond to them. That's when you've given them the attention they want. Go about business, continue discussions, and lets beat the books together. :)
To end this, lets here another PHUCK ya for + 9900 in 3 weeks :) PHUCK YA

I had a nice run as well started Valentines when I just felt real strong about my plays and had real feel where teams were at that time in the season. Was like a 3 week run where I turned my loss to date to a nice profit with a lot of help from my brothers, and our brother Mavin and his teachings. Took a step back recently as I felt maybe I was starting to press after I cashed out trying to get that big number again. Been enjoying march madness and getting caught up on neglected house maintenance. Taking a deep breath before again taking on this 'circus', so rightful described by Mavin, we call the NBA.
Trolls? What trolls?
Let's get this, gents!

Ofc. Sometimes u r just wrong. If it was that easy, everybody would be rich :) Even Vegas doesnt have all the answers, if they had they would ve nailed every spread on one basket, yet they dont :)
Some reasons why i didnt like Min:
- Min shot 53,2% previous game. They r not nearly as good ( +10%). And Chi def is still solid. So this % will fall down.
- everybody talking about B2B. While that si true, they did only play 3 games in previous 8 days and all at home- not exactly brutal.
- Chi owns Min the last few games
line movement was also weird. chi -1 to +3 is a little to much for a rlm.
The teams match up well in my opinion and CHI is not a good a team as you may think, ask the Kings who wiped the floor with them. How did the Bulls win this game, because they played better than the other team, yes it is that simple. Would you say the Suns have a better team than the Lakers? stuff happens you move on but not without learning from it and all the things that I looked at before selecting this game are still true today after a 7 pt loss which could have been a lot worse- There are times when you are wrong and you are just making an emotional pick " ohh ohhh ohh I went to UNC they are gonna kill the Jayhawks " kind of mentality but when you do your homework and something unexpected happens you put it in the books as a bad outcome not a bad bet because as long you follow your rules the bet is not bad it is a losing bet or a winning bet. Sometimes you win games you had no business winning is that a good bet, no, it is a bad bet that won. That is how I see it and Matt explained it also. As long as you can live with your decisions and have good money management you will be ok. Do I make stupid bet sure, we all do at times, I placed a small wager on the NCAA yesterday just to make the game interesting without any home work just because I thought the dogs would put up a fight yesterday- and most of them did. Sometimes you bet to make money sometimes you bet to watch the game and make it interesting, I enjoy that more than going to some games live.
Also there was a comment earlier degrading gamblers... If you are on Covers you should not be allow to make the statement, definition of a gamble...
Gambling is the wagering of money or something of material value (referred to as "the stakes") on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods. Typically, the outcome of the wager is evident within a short period.
is someone chooses to do this for fun or for a living and are able to do so and do it within their means there is nothing wrong with it. In life you are supposed to find what makes you happy and figure out a way to achieving it, if it so happens that this thing you like also makes you money then you are all set (assuming good health and world peace blah blah blah)
Most of the wealth in the world is done by gambling. Think the stock market, think trading back to the early days of time. No one in the world makes money (except the federeal reserves) everyone else just trades money. Whether is for a service or for goods or the most common for time. When you have a job and you get paid lets say 2k a week some say ok you made money, the truth is you traded your Time for Money, or Goods for Money, or vice versa.
Same in sports, the stock market etc. They are all pyramids as someone always has to get the money you lose or someone gives up the money you make. Zero some game- some involve juice of course.

I obviously made money on 2H -5 and 3Q -2 because I never gave up on my reasoning behind the initial pick which for me was the ML -150 (the same price if I bought 2 and put it at -1).
The reason they call it a "gamble" and not a sure thing is because you can't equate for human error. I was on the "wrong side" of the bet, but I would make the play tomorrow given the same constants.
I learned from today the importance of the write-up. It gave me the confidence to execute my protection plan.
I don't have it all figured out, but I know I've become a better capper from the help of the greatest cappers (and people)assembled on Covers, especially Turbo!
Let's keep this thing going Gents. Stay positive and remember, what Mavin created is bigger than one person. It's an ideal that he was kind enough to share and instill in everyone here.
Very well said. Thanks for the kind words, I see you are getting better every day- stay humble, follow the system rules and don't bet every game but do write down and paper bet as many of them as you can.
Mavin good job.

Its just a discussion Mavin. Dont care who had it. It just looks like it was the one that was a biggest surprise. So discussion it and trying to figure it out, may not be such a bad idea. Learning about it aint that the purpose of this thread ;)?
The game was not a big surprise, it is being blown out of proportion in this thread because most of us were betting it. When we are all on one game (it has occurred before) and we win it does not generate this kind of nonsense.
I have not read all the posts yet ( I was way too busy crunching numbers on NCAA and have a couple of weeks left of that ) however someone will correct me later, has anyone done their post game write up? if so I will see them later as I read, you can say idiot read the thread to the end then comment and you may have a valid argument- however I reply to posts as I go to make sure that I give attention to most of them not just make general statements.

No hard feelings, but i got to take Melo and CMJ side, this is just pathetic. Phixer and KingMiads are the only 2 good cappers here, and all are running after them, They can just open their own thread with their own discipline of money without being foolish here with a mediocre cappers such as Mavin and all the others, who are most are at 50% mark (as most of bettors are).
It's nice to consult about scores and sides and totals, but come on.... Mavin can't even make one correct call, and he's held with he's free time to make his lists and SH*T.
This is just worried. Covers' got its streak survivor and NBA league contest so why to participate here...
No one here except the 2 i mentioned above has nothing to offer.
I don't see anyone making a conversation on LVTruck or 3ballbomber's threads. This is just.... PATHETIC!
With great power comes great responsibility and I one of them is dealing with people like you- no disrespect but go to "LVTruck or 3ballbomber's threads" (i have no clue who they are) and post there. The mere fact that you are here tells me you also like to follow the great ones here Phixer and King. If you want to buy them out you are doing a poor job of it.

I think you just answered your own question. This thread IS different. It is not meant to just provide picks, like LVTruck, CMJ1, or 3ballbomber do. It is meant to share and discuss picking games. And learn the reasoning behind people's picks. Are you getting better by just copying LVT's picks? If that's what you want to do - that's fine. If you want to see interesting trends, analysis and different takes people have here, this is your thread. If you don't like this format, don't read. I don't know why you guys are so worked up about this thread. We all hope by sharing and analyzing, we can get better at picking games. I know, I learned a lot myself here. Hopefully, you will too. Otherwise, why do you even need to check CMJ's or LVT's picks? Wouldn't you want to be at that level or better some day?
they never learn to stay away-

Mavin, first of all i can see from your insult behaviour that i'm right. If i weren't, you'd be igonoring. But this bothers you so much (when people say the truth) that you're into to small details like "is there's another mavin?". WOW. I can give the points for getting 2 amazing cappers such as KINGMIDAS and PIHXER, but you worth nothing at betting. Anyone with a free time can make a list of bettors and their scores.
SUNSDEVILS - Your'e comment is informative. You say what you think, and i agree - this thread can be good for people who lack their picks. I appreciate you're comment in a non cynical way. You say the truth and i welcome it.
Fuzzrod - You know how to evaluate a good avatar This is an old European cartoon character. And i love it. So sad that that your mentor (sorry if i'm wrong) doesn't know who is. I'm European, and all Europeans know who my character is.
And last sentence to you Mavin - lough all you want, you pretend to be a great and consistent capper, and a real trading person, but you never give your plays since you've been losing daily. That's all i'm saying. You being protective just shows me i'm right. That's all i'm saying. Keep this thread alive, it has good insights, it's just that you don't contribute to it.
BOL>
I like how you are complimenting others as if to fit in. no baiting here.
A good avatar? that is a matter of taste not a matter of right or wrong or good or bad.

this aside from the SLOMS (yeah I made that up) is proving you to be ignorant. You are responding in this thread because something bothers you and if you don't read it is should not. Please in 3 sentences state your agenda...

Turbo, all of you came in attacking me even though i've said that Mavin has his advantages. Yes, i said that this thread is informative. I don't think i can make it any clearer. In addition, i said i compare MY picks to the ones i think have great handicapping skills, and you too sometimes makes me
All i said is that i don't understand why someone states that he's so good, but stops posting his picks. Great money management is the key, and Mavin probably has a great one but you still have to pick winners.
If he made some of you more disciplined, that's great.
You're all being so protective sometimes that you miss my point.
As i said, i wish you all cappers here the best of luck and to make money. I have nothing bad against anyone.
P.S
I never copy picks, but i do like to compare.

Either way, this thread isn't about bets, or records, or contests; it's about people. In any environment, good people have to fight evil (or someone appearing in various forms of evil). If you look close at the picks Mavin has so kindly volunteered to organize (as multiple personalities have pointed out), you would see that WE are doing just fine.
It's obvious that you follow this, so do you think any of us lack the intelligence to realize your game? We have work to get back to making the world a better place for people like you, that can't help themselves. We'll start by helping you to raise the capital to change YOUR miserable world. So please keep observing, but let us get back to work!
Come on boys. The focus is on us. Let's show them what we've got! Like Mavin and Turbo said yesterday...
Couldn't agree more...

I'm nowhere near to being able to make bets that seem hard to me. In those instances, my heart will not abide my mind. I'll settle for what I hold to be an easier play and sure enough, at the end of the day, I'll be kicking myself in the head. Habits are hard to break. :). You live you learn. Hopefully...
On the Min -5 2nd half though, you do know that scoring fiend Nate Robinson missed 2 freebies with 17 secs left and the equally fiendish Derrick Williams jacked up a 3 and busted it with 7 secs left without running out the clock. I'm just sayin...
I know is an expression but the heart does not tell the brain what to do- it is quite the opposite.

I just started reading this thread the other day and went back a ways to read through the analysis, etc (not all 10,000 posts!). I also took a play yesterday (and won) which was nice. I really like the analysis, especially the write up on the under SAC yesterday. That was superb.
I hope that you guys continue to offer insight when time allows as this really helps the guys, like me, who are a bit more a novice at betting NBA. I think I'll jump on the bandwagon and ride a little while and we'll see what happens. Hopefully the streak continues.
I think the only thing that was frustrating about the thread was how much airplay was given to Trolls. If you don't respond, they'll just go away. They are exactly like children. Ignore their antics and they get bored. (If you must respond, just type "TROLL" and everyone will understand why you aren't responding to whatever baiting tactic they are using at that point.
That being said, I will admit that I sometimes find myself on the phone with telemarketers and go around and around with them for pure entertainment purposes. (Keep quoting them unrealistic prices that they didn't say and insisting they said it....Pretend to put them on hold while I have a fake conference with my dog....make up ridiculously long stories that go nowhere but keep telling them "you've to hear this part.." So, I do understand that it can sometimes be fun to laugh at the children (read Trolls/telemarketers) while they are doing whatever attention grabbing antic is on their mind. However, they eventually start to repeat themselves and the convo/behavior simply degrades into name calling from their side. So, I would say that after a response or two, just ignore them. They are children after all. I will set the example and regardless of whatever inanity a Troll potentially says after this post, I will pretend their post doesn't exist and will look past it (can you Ignore people on this site?).
Keep up the great work guys. Thanks!!

Hello all,
I just started reading this thread the other day and went back a ways to read through the analysis, etc (not all 10,000 posts!).

Hello friends and trolls! Got one bet Im locking in right now...
Gonna go with the Grizzlies Wizards under. Both teams strong under teams, Grizzlies 27-41-1 o/u, Wizards 26-40-3 o/u. Under is 4-0 last 4 Grizzlie games and 4-1 last 5 meetings between these 2. Gasol is out for Memphis and he is the second leading scorer for that team.
33-27
Under 182.5 MEM Grizzlies-WAS Wizards
BOL!
While my mind is not made up yet I think the Grizz are done with their great defense and are trying to focus on scoring, just an observation-
Wouldn't Gasol being out mean less D and more points for Wizz?

La now coming off 2 straight losses, will bounce back here. Kind of like Chi yesterday, Lakers have had their way with GS in recent past. This is a team that they are trying to catch for the playoffs. Lakers find a way to get another victory here in GS.

The biggest thing about that game that scares me is the fact that Memphis is just coming off a game playing Boston. In history the last five times Memphis has played Boston they have outright lost the next game. Which would leave me to believe that if Washington can put up points here this might not be a good play on Memphis or under. With Memphis after their last five games allowing 100 points I do believe their 5-0 ats. Somehow I see Washington doing what is needed tonight to pull off this victory and for that total to go over.
