New England at San Diego (10/24/2010)

CMONEY, good game last week. ravens were playing great till the 4th. even flacco had something like a 117 QB raiting , 2 TD`s and was 27 out of 35. but my boys just fell apart. i blame a lot on are coaching staff for being too conservative in the 4th. it was clear that brady was starting to pick us apart in the 4th.from mason droping the ball in the endzone, kicking a sqwib kick out of bounds that i know was called from the sideline. then harburgh not having the balls to go for it on 4th in maybe 3 inches twice. and dummy MCclain picking up that personal foul in OT. anyways i give your boys front 7 credit as they kepy rice in check. just dont know why that my boys stopped throwing. flacco was playing great. but what can you do? i still hit all 3 of my plays last week so that kept me happy...

anyways im going to take my 3team 10point teaser like always. so far i`m taking baltimore-3or4 whatever it is with the local books. and im looking into this game also. do you like droping that total from 47 to go over 37? and i might take your boys +7 but i have a feeling that SD might pull this one out with their backs being against the walls n NE traving across county for a 415 game after a boxing match last week. but if you can shoot me some info. if your like me you know your team better then a lot more peeps do. shoot me some info on droping that over down to 37 and tell me your opinion. thx

San Diego leads the NFL in passing with out Vincent Jackson.  Malcom Floyd probably wont play, but they should get Gates back and Buster Davis and Patrick Crayton have played well.  They will also utilize Sproles more on screens and quick slants.  The bottom line on the passing is that Rivers will make his receivers look better with his good decisions and accurat passes.  On the flip side, who is Brady going to throw to?  He will also make his receivers look better for the same reasons.  But NE has a horrible pass defense.  Just ask Mark Sanchez! 

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Rivers goes over 400 yards passing again.  The special teams however, will be critical.  They have to minimize mental mistakes here.

Big, last week was a fluke and ur team should've won, but their inability to get a consistent pass rush on Brady led to 4th quarter plays by Branch and Woodhead that they had no answer for.  Patriots do that, they make minor adjustments and they find ways to win games.

For this weeks game I was intitially overconfident the Pats would win but the secondary hasnt been tested against a good offense. The game might depend on how and if Gates plays.  Anwyays I see a tight game either way and teasing +7 and ou down to 37 should be safe.  Most likely it will come down to the last possession

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I tried to warn against SD last week on the road. They are a horrible road team.
However, at home they avg 40 pts per game.
NE avg 34 pts per game.
Both def give up about 23 pts per game.....to mostly inferior teams.

I think I just talked myself into the over @ 48

If I had to pick a side it would be SD -3.

but i do still feel a lil bitter. i didnt even watch sportscenter, NFL network or read the local sports page till thusday after we blew it last week. that was a tough loss. i wish we would`ve just gotten blown out by your boys then to lose like that. but when it comes to money i will put all those things aside. shit if i can bet on pittsburgh  i can take any team. lol...

My game of the week in the NFL.  NE is coming off a big win against Balt.....everyone is talking about how well Branch played last week, and that they didn't miss Moss.  SD is coming off 2 horrible losses to bad teams.  All the action is on NE, but SD is still favored by 3.  Laying the points, SD -3

The San Diego Chargers look to turn their season around as they face the New England Patriots. 

It's been a rough year for the San Diego Chargers thus far as two-thirds of their games have been on the road and they haven't won on the road yet. San Diego returns home this week but the level of competition goes up as they face the Patriots. Phillip Rivers leads a passing attack that is actually tops in the NFL but with the injuries mounting, the Chargers are getting thin. Rivers has thrown for 2,008 yards completing 62.3 percent of his passes for 12 touchdowns and five interceptions but he has been sacked 18 times. Ryan Tolbert is the leading ground gainer with 295 yards and five touchdowns while Ryan Mathews has 282 yards. Antonio Gates leads the Chargers in receptions with 31 for 490 yards and seven touchdowns while Macolm Floyd, who is doubtful for this one, has 513 yards and three touchdowns. Kevin Burnett leads San Diego in tackles wit 32 and he also has five sacks while Shaun Phillips has six sacks as the Chargers bring the heat with 21 sacks on the season. Antoine Cason has two interceptions to lead the Chargers who have seven picks as a team. This is a banged up San Diego team and while there are always alot of places to assign blame, all you need to do is look at the injuries. As a team the Chargers are averaging 26.2 points and 432.7 yards per game while the defense is allowing 21 points and 255.2 yards on average.

The New England Patriots look to be a team on a mission and that mission is to get back to the Super Bowl. Tom Brady leads the NFL's highest scoring offense completing 67.5 percent of his passes for 1,203 yards and 10 touchdowns and four interceptions while getting sacked eight times. It's been Running back by committee with Benjarvus Green-Ellis gaining 235 yards on the ground with three touchdowns and Danny Woodhead contributing 141 yards and a touchdown. Wes Welker is once again Tom Brady's favorite target with 33 receptions for 270 yards and three touchdowns while Rookie Aaron Hernandez has 22 catches for 301 yards. Defensively Jerrod Mayo has been a tackling machine with 61 tackles and Pat Chung has 47. The Pats only have 10 sacks as a team with Gerrard Warren having two of them. Chung also has two interceptions tying him for the team lead with Rob Ninkovich. The patriots are averaging 30.8 points and 354.2 yards while the defense allows an average of 21 points and 255.2 yards. 

San Diego is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games following a loss, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games against a team with a losing record, and 2-5-1 against the spread in their last eight games overall. New England is 13-6-3 against the spread in their last 22 games as a road underdog, 1-4 against the spread in their last five against a team with a losing record, and 23-11-3 in their last 37 games as an underdog. 

The total here is set at 47 and with the injuries in San Diego this one has all of the makings of a shoot out. We have the number one passing offense in San Diego up against the number one scoring offense in New England and with Brady against Rivers neither is going to back down. This one should go over easily.
