I am I interested if you know of any specific examples on this?  Or is this speculation?  Thanks.

i saw an article a couple of days ago but lost it.  i googled it and found this.

    https://www.attn.com/stories/463/one-congressman-just-ruined-legalized-marijuana-dc-everyone-heres-why

here's another article the discusses the issue more generally.

it's fairly logical that two groups that would be against marijuana legalization would be the police unions and the pharmaceutical companies for obvious reasons.

I have I look into it more. Kind of wanted specifics on votes and the donors. Only saw the one guy that had one drug company as a part of his healthcare donations. I really am somewhat suspicious if this is true at this point. If it was true that the ones that votes against it mostly had contributions from anti-MJ companies and vice-versa---I figured it would be all over the news and easier to find. So it leads me to suspect pro-MJ talking points so far. Who knows.

here's a more indepth article.  money probably has better stuff since he's into this issue.

but if you look at it logically, you know there have been state wide votes on legalization.  you know there have been major campaigns against it in those states.  you know those campaigns cost many millions of dollars.  someone has to be spending that money.  why would anyone spend tens of millions or more to fight it unless they stand to lose tens of millions or more if marijuana was legal?  who are those groups- police, pharmaceutical companies, private prisons, alcohol companies.

That is not correct logic to me because it makes unknown assumptions along the way to the conclusion. Lots of money is spent on antiabortion campaigns, who makes money on the other side of that?  Sometimes people are willing to spend millions on campaigns for a cause and not a monetary reason. The article doesn't list politicians and their huge donors from drug companies that would benefit from anti-MJ laws.
Like the HBO comedy show about payday loans, where he guy listed all the support the politicians got from the bloc?  I will have to look when I have time---but right now it still looks sort of regional, like a lot of things---abortion--gaaymarriage---etc.  I can understand cops not being for it and having influence--maybe more than drug cos.
I just assumed this to be true about drug cos and politicians because it seems likely and media continually implies it.  And now that I wanna know for sure who is who---I think it may be more mythical.

And now that I wanna know for sure who is who---I think it may be more mythical.

i think that logic is sound and the articles i posted seem to support it.  it's not easy finding lists of donors as that information is kept secret for obvious reasons and the people with that kind of money make the disclosure rules.  but, i'm guessing money has pulled some articles about this.

but if there is info suggesting other groups are spending all of this money to fight legalization or it's some grass roots movement, i'd be interested in seeing it.
