GOP senator: Hegseth is either lying about second boat strike or incompetent

CNN report -
Republican Sen. Rand Paul on Tuesday accused Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth of either lying in his public response to news reports that the US military carried out a follow-up strike on a suspected drug boat in September or being incompetent.

“Secretary Hegseth said he had no knowledge of this,
and it did not happen. It was fake news. It didn’t happen! 
And then the next day, from the podium at the WH
are saying it did happen,”  
                                                   - Paul told reporters in the US Capitol.

“So, either [Hegseth] was lying to us … or he’s incompetent
and didn’t know it had happened.”

“Do we think there’s any chance that … the secretary
of the defense did not know there had been a second
strike??? So as a country, we’re just going to let people
lie to us, to our face?!?!” he added.

Most fentanyl comes from Mexico and most cocaine comes from Columbia via land.  Targeting Venezuela has no or little impact on drug trafficking.  Designating people as terrorists do not necessarily transform them into legitimate military targets.  Illegal under US and international laws to deploy military against civilians during peace time.  Hypocritical for Trump to pardon former Honduran president who was sentenced for drug trafficking.

You are so fucking clueless man ! Imagine for a second that another country bombed some of your boats - and wonder how you would react - The penalty for drug smuggling is not execution and you are not the world police - even though you believe you are ! If you suspected they carried drugs inside your country - follow them to your shore and arrest them - like any normal country

This is only so you can steal their ressources and because they are such a small country with no real military power - that they can't really do anything about - don't try make it about something else

The US is kind of the world police....It has it's hands in too many things and many nations look to the US, so not sure I would go on record and state that....Should the US have it's hands in that many things is a topic that could very well be discussed because that is intriguing.. 

International waters is also an interesting topic....

There are 4 nations with enough nuclear weapons - that they can destroy planet earth at will ! And you have a military very few countries want to challenge at the moment - that doesn’t mean you are “above” the law - that means you set the standard of what is right and what is wrong through your actions - believe me a world where everyone just yollo and do what the fuck they want - doesn’t benefit you in the slightest - the few friends you have left - is because you are the biggest country until now that has somewhat tried upholding some kind of international law and order - if you go down this road you are not any better than the alternatives ! And in case you don’t know you are mostly “something” because NATO helps funding your military and because the USD is the world currency - both are things “We” decide if that is also something present in your future - we can turn you into a banana republic at will 

Oddly, Trump administration sees drug trafficking to the US as a terrorist threat that can be targeted by military.  This is a dramatic change from traditional policy that drug trafficking is a crime handled by homeland security department and coast guard instead of military.  Under US law, illegal to use military for law enforcement because of the risk of military becoming an instrument for tyranny as in authoritarian countries.  Abuse of power for Trump to turn military into a policing force that he controls.
