 I have always said if you get caught knowingly hiring them that it should be a HUGE fine the first time.  The next time it should be jail time.  

They have brought back the bill to require Everify being used for all new hires...this is the same bill that was proposed back in late 90s when the Everify pilot program came out...back then several reasons caused it to not go into effect...some states flat out said no, like California so the program began being required for all federal contractors and businesses that have gotten i. Trouble with hiring illegals or have had I9 problems..

The new bill is proposing nationwide requirements where states cannot say no...this is really a main solution in my eyes to stop illegals from being able to work..stop the idea of being able to come here illegally and work and you create a situation where many may choose not to come here...

Nonetheless, it is a start and could very well be implemented to at least combat employers from hiring illegals...you have start somewhere and this should be the start to get the ball rolling...

That is the case on a lot of issues. 
But with this particular issue they have painted themselves into an obvious corner and it is difficult to navigate out it.

Nobody wants to participate....I'll give it a whirl.  What about if they just cut all federal funding to States for illegals?  Like ZERO.  Couldn't they have led with an action like this vs. the current "plan" or lack thereof?  How many of these subsidized would just leave on their own?

I think RAIDERPUG hit the nail on the head.   If you hurt the employers for hiring illegals, then they will stop hiring them, and the incentive for the great majority of illegals to come here will dry up. 

EVERIFY needs to be fast tracked through Congress to get this going..  ICE still needs to do their job to deport all the illegals that are here, already. All the liberals on this site will cry foul that this will bring worker shortages to our country.  But guess what ?  We have "LEGAL IMMIGRATION."   We can reward those that have waited their turn through the proper process.

But does that necessarily make the illegals deport themselves? 
That would have been a preventative measure when the cities and states started harboring them.  
You can even start doing it now to try to stop it. 

But it does not solve the much bigger problem of how to get rid of the illegals now that they have been ushered in.  These same cities and states that harbored them now still want to keep them.  How do you solve that problem.  

Apparently the only way to do it is to let President Obama run for a third term so he can do it without those folks bellyaching about it.

Nah, never happen. Texas provided all the registered private voter information for their citizens that the Impotus regime requested.

But don't worry. DOGE will make sure all that data is properly protected.

Except when it involves illegals, by default they are then involved.

I think there was only one foreigner involved.  But he was legally living in Texas.

It is quite sad, and the double-standard that exists from virtually all on the left... Where was the outrage then ?  Perhaps a lefty here on Covers can explain... I'm not holding my breath.

For decades, ICE has succeeded in terrorizing communities but failed in increasing compliance with immigration laws.  Experts agree enforcement alone cannot solve complex problem of illegal immigration.  More effective is combining enforcement with expanding legal pathways, improving processing system and international cooperation among countries.

Why should Texas be "invaded" by ICE when local and state law enforcement team up with ICE and have their backs. ICE is not "on their own there", no need to waste millions on extra ICE just to be able to drive down a street. 

And I like the coupling of $14.6 billion with 48 Texans when it was actually 324 people across the nation that made up the $14.6 billion estimated fraud. And I see at least one was a citizen of India working out of Texas.

Pew research found that Houston and Miami have the highest concentration of illegal immigrants.  Over 70 cities have higher concentrations than Minneapolis which has 2% of population as illegal immigrants.  Politifact debunks Vance claim that Minneapolis is targeted by ICE because it has the highest concentration.  Extra ICE agents should be deployed where they are welcomed by mayors and governors.  Sending them where they are unwanted only make cities less safe.
