Sorry that came out all wrong. I do not believe they individuals should be grouped together and thought of as the same and that be truth.

I am actually not against PC per se because it addresses the igronance and insensitivity of people who lack the ability or willingness to be able to see human beings as individuals with a complex combination of variables that make them who they are.

But the issue is not PC. The issue is that he is incorrect based on reality and unable to grasp the numbers and reality.  Perhaps it is to push rhetoric that makes him popular with those that like to paint groups of people as the problem,  perhaps he is a racist, perhaps he is pandering to his racist voting base.  But the fact of the matter is he is incorrect.  And I guess for me PC is not an issue when your outright lying or ignorantly perpetuating a lie

Maine is a small state population wise, if any city in the nation of a half million citizens had 1100 drug arrests it would be a huge reduction in crime.

Governor Lepage is an out spoken loud mouth he is hot tempered and really not a good statesmen or diplomat but he isn't a liar. What he states he believes is true. I rather have him than a slick talking deceiver we usually get from politicians. Is he going to win a congenital award no will he stand up and a

I appreciate you're taking the time to educate me, even if it was not necessary.

In post #7, and again in post #13, I was clear, concise, and well articulated in my expressing how LePage did not fold to political correctness, and I respect that.

I also said that LePage is a tool, and could be a racist.

I could take the time to emphasis that what I wrote was nothing more than my pointing out that being PC has gone too far, but why?
All any reasonable person has to do is read that which I ALREADY WROTE, and they would come to that conclusion. Of course, that might require a degree of objectiveness which might be lacking in this instance

    I have read post # 7 and post #13

    You stated  the following

I am defending this statement ...
"As per the article, LePage is unwilling to back down when speaking about race"
Which I referenced in post #7.

I am not trying to educate you. I disagreed with you because Paul Lepage and political correctness should not be used in the same sentence.
It's not just about the message ( inconvenient truth for instance)  , it's also about how the message is delivered.

By the way Lepage is willing to back down when speaking about race.

Earlier this year at a town-hall meeting, when responding to a question about how he was dealing with substance-abuse problems in Maine, LePage offered another fundamentally racist characterization of out-of-state drug traffickers, also reported by the Press Herald:

These are guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty — these types of guys — they come from Connecticut and New York, they come up here, they sell their heroin, they go back home … Incidentally, half the time they impregnate a young white girl before they leave, which is a real sad thing because then we have another issue we have to deal with down the road.

then LePage said he made a "mistake," although he thought everyone was overreacting to his "one slip-up." "I was going impromptu and my brain didn’t catch up to my mouth," he said. The governor added, according to BuzzFeed, that he "didn’t say anything about black" and that he doesn’t "know if they’re white, black, Asian, I don’t know.”

LePage also claimed that 90% of the drug dealers arrested in Maine were black or Hispanic, and he had a "binder" of mugshots to prove it.

OK Lepage's body parts act independently of one another
and he does not know what he is talking about.

“I tell ya, everybody in Maine, we have constitutional carry,” LePage said in an on-camera interview in Lewiston, referring to the state’s protections for carrying concealed handguns without a special permit.
“Load up and get rid of the drug dealers. Because, folks, they’re killing our kids,” the governor said. The reporter he was speaking with quickly asked if the head of the state government was calling for vigilante justice. LePage denied that he meant to invite vigilantism by saying Mainers can use concealed firearms to “get rid of” drug dealers when they find them.

In 2013, LePage went after Assistant Senate Majority Leader Troy Jackson (D), saying he had a “black heart“ and “no brains.” The governor was upset at the legislator for saying he wasn’t willing to negotiate with Democrats on the budget.

“Sen. Jackson claims to be for the people, but he’s the first one to give it to the people without providing Vaseline,” LePage said.

When a reporter suggested his comment would offend people, LePage replied, “Good. It ought to, because I’ve been taking it for two years.”

    • LePage joked last year that that he’d like to shoot George Danby, the cartoonist for the Bangor Daily News. The joke fell flat in light of the shooting that killed five Charlie Hebdo cartoonists in France just a few months earlier.

LePage made his comments about Danby in front of a group of teenagers attending a youth leadership program. Danby’s son, Nick, was in attendance and asked the governor a question.

“The governor shouldn’t be making those comments, even though I know he doesn’t care for my stuff because I pick on him quite a bit in my cartoon,” Danby told The Huffington Post. “But it’s always within the boundaries of fairness and free speech and satire.”

Maine has a population of nearly 15 million in the summer as tourists own 3 of every 4 homes up here. We have a very low cost of living equally low crime and unemployment rate, we have Somalia refugees living beside ethipian refugees right beside Syrians. In Portland Lewiston and Bangor.  Why most of the year 8 to 10 months temperature is below freezing. We offer div 3 ivy league schools as Bates bowdion and Colby. We have div 1 umo best sport is womens basketball and mens ice hockey.

Our police officers are neibors and reality everyone knows everyone or at least those born here have heard of their family. Lepage will be termed limited out in a couple years and I am sure that will start the run over again. We have 5 candidates splitting the vote so someone who can gain 38 to 40 % of the vote will be our next governor.

Collins is homeland chair in the Senate, Cohen former defense Secretary is retired, dems side Mitchell is working on a peace accord in Israel and another Nobel Pingree will be a congresswoman as long as she wishes. Angus King former governor is an independent whose primary concern is the environment serves in the Senate.

I am not trying to educate you. I disagreed with you because Paul Lepage and political correctness should not be used in the same sentence.
It's not just about the message ( inconvenient truth for instance)  , it's also about how the message is delivered.

We could go round and round on this, so this will be my last post on the topic.

LePage and his opinions leave much to be desired, we are in agreement on that point.

I made no comment defending LePage, I merely went off-topic and said good for him not being PC. I quoted one line that showed he was not PC. I did not defend what he said, I defended his right to not be PC. Does that make sense?

Politcal correctness, particularly on matters of race, has reached the point of absurdity.
For example, in todays world if someone makes a statement such as (for example only) black people love fried chicken, they are apt to be labeled a racist. It matters little that black people might actually love fried chicken. The PC police are blind to truisms, they have decided that no minority group should be categorized, or spoken of in generalities, and if you do so you are a racist. To me, this is PC run amok.

That's the only point I was trying to make.
    It was off topic.
    I did not defend LePage.
And now to everyone's delight, I am done with this thread

But the point is it's not about political correctness when it is incorrect.

That is why you can't answer my questions because I clearly delineate that as seperate issues.   I think that is where we don't see eye to eye.  I am all for people saying things that are beyond what others are poltiically correct as that line may vary from person to person.  But I am not for incorrect statements being put as generalities to all people of a race as truth when they are clearly incorrect.

Think about it this way, the whole PC thing comes from the fact that so much garbage about race is incorrect and bias.  The whole root of it comes from people exactly like Lepage that spread lies and function wih a world view of lies.

If you get rid of the lies and the inaccuracies then there is no for political correctness because everything would be accurate. Then people could make statements on race based on truths.

So your logic here is all wrong.  You can't get rid of the PC part which is in reaction to the lies and liars.  You need to get address the lies and liars and then PC is not needed and will disappear.  So to argue against PC makes no sense. PC is a solution to the problem.  Fix the problem and then there is no need for the solution.

But you know you have painted yourself into a corner here on this one and trying to get out of it so you're making s run for it rather than having a civil conversation about the off-topic tangent you tried to pull

I took the time to explain myself in detail, in what was, in hindsight, a fruitless endeavor. Explanations should always be reserved for those who have reading comprehension skills.

I will not waste time discussing an irrelevant topic any longer.

Lastly, anyone who has read any of my posts for the 14 years I've been on this site, and then claims that I am "making a run for it" is simply further evidence of the lack of reading comprehension which is regularly on display here

I am just calling a spade a spade.   The fact that you end your posts saying you are done and trying to run versus just making a statement and promoting a civil dialog back and forth is what I think is making me think that.  You could of course prove me wrong and engage in a discussion rather than keeping on trying to excuse yourself and scurry off.

Reading comprehension is not the issue.  Unless you see the forum as a one way monologue where you lecture and we all sit back and take notes and listen to you.   This is not how I see it.   I made some very specific points in this thread about the PC that you brought up as a topic.

Let's try this,  start real simple.  Try responding and answering to my initial comments and questions to your earlier post and let's work from there.

There used to be a political aphorism that said, "As Maine goes, so goes the nation."  I hope that what happened in Maine does not happen to the entire country; i.e. that minor party candidates garner enough votes to let unpopular cretin Trump squeak by with just a plurality.

Green will have no impact, and Johnson might get enough votes to give AZ to HRC.

Well we do not elect the President. The President is elected by an electoral college. In Maine our electoral is set to split southern Maine will go to Hillary. Northern Maine will go to Trump
Then the one with the majority get another 2 votes
Maine realistically will go 3-1 for Hillary.
