A dozen eggs are now $3.10 cheaper since January 24. That’s a 47% decrease overall,” Leavitt said. But if you haven’t noticed lower egg prices at the grocery store, you’re not alone! The reason is a key word Leavitt included: “wholesale.” Those are the prices distributors buy from farmers or middlemen. Consumer prices, which is what you’re charged at the grocery store, aren’t falling – they’re rising.   For the third straight week, wholesale egg prices fell to $4.15 per dozen, according to the US Department of Agriculture, a 30% decrease from the week before when prices were $6.85 a dozen. But the average RETAIL price for consumers is $5.90 per dozen eggs, up $0.94 from last month, the USDA notes.   Of course eventually they MUST fall as more egg-laying hens become available and the avian flu subsides... Its very hard to make a maga understand that trump didnt wave his magic wind and the prices of eggs went down.  They dont get simple math, more chickens, means more eggs and top of that less demand from consumers.  Of course prices would go down, but hey they just want give trump credit for everything in the world.  Seriously how insane does a person have to be to actually think of trump as some god like creature?  If trump went on tv and told magas to take out their guns and shoot themselves, i would guess 85 percent of them would do it.

    My gas is currently lower now than when Biden left office. Our local gas prices haven't actually moved much at all the last few weeks.

    @BigGame90

     So what has Trump done in two months that has cycled through the oil markets from creation of his event to the refinery market and thus the pump?'

    Oil prices are flat to higher due to the reality of a global and US recession, a demand decline is being priced into the oil markets but not to a severe extent yet.

    Trump actions (I dont know of any so far) will take a solid year to cycle through the production to refinery to pump and maybe longer. Trump isnt to blame for eggs nor does he deserve credit for anything positive yet.

    Saw the same report peace_5   The pump price routinely varies over most of the 50 states but the mean National average has risen once again and I think that is almost every day the past 10+

    They know people will start driving around more when the weather gets nicer because they are finally able to get out out , and have been itching to do things after a long cold winter , in many states in the U.S. so it doesn’t surprise me that the prices for gas are going higher one bit .

    these companies are in the business to make money and not help people .

    it’s sad but it’s true .

    I hate it .

    maybe check the stats year after year . My guess is around this time of the year they always begin to go up up up ….

Trump actions (I dont know of any so far) will take a solid year to cycle through the production to refinery to pump and maybe longer. @kcblitzkrieg

     I just filled up yesterday and my gas price was 35 cents higher than the comparable mid Jan price per gallon. I think it is amusing at best for anyone to think commodity markets to the pump can move in a material fashion in two months.

    Or maybe the higher gas prices can be attributed to the convicted felon/rapist/sexual predator/furher/nazi leader/bigot/egomaniac /fat body golfer Trump .

    my guess is he has something to do with it .

    @wallstreetcappers

     I never said Trump is responsible for lower gas prices. I just posted what I've noticed with gas prices in my area. peace_5 But if Fubduh really wanted to show numbers, he could show the average price for the last, I dunno 5 years.

    Looks like my copy and paste didn't work, lets try it again. Fubduh, have any copy and paste tips for here?

    Since we're talking about national avg gas prices, lets look at the last 5 years, during Bidens term

    2020- $2.17

    2021- $3.01

    2022- $4.90

    2023- $3.40

    2024- $3.30

    Hmmmm practically all higher than the current avg price.

    @WSC why would the media start talking about a possible recession now that Trump is on office? I guess whatever happens in the short term must be Trumps fault, right? Do you find it ironic that the media glossed over a recession during Bidens term while changing the definition of a recession?

    @BigGame90

     The problem is that the media is seeking eyes to sell products so you have to lead with enraging content. When I see stuff in the media I either already know if it is fake or not and if I do not I will research it myself. In addition I discount pretty much everything that comes from the media given that they are all partisan salesmen seeking to please advertisers and there are like zero true news outlets any longer it is all just dividing nonsense.

    I know I cannot say more than a few hundred words before sleep time for many of you but my view is that the recession is more about rates and reality than who is in office, in general I have to clarify though. Higher rates mean higher interest costs and less for government services so to me when the central banks everywhere started ramping rates I knew recession was going to be in the picture. Since Europe is more leveraged than the US and rate sensitive they came out concerned faster than the US and Europe has not overhauled their political system in any enormous fashion, thus the entire premise of partisan blaming is neutered. In the US we think everything is partisan and that everywhere else is a reflection of our issues and dynamics, it is quite narrow minded and smug, lacking real intelligence.

    Trump does have ownership on his actions and some of what he is proposing while following the project 2025 playbook IS inflationary, IS recessionary and could make it more likely to happen but it is too early yet to draw conclusions. What really determines our outcome is the FED more than goof ball Trump IMO.
