My problem is with both. Isn't an assault rifle a gun? Shouldn't be too difficult to comprehend. Assault rifles inflict more damage in terms of scale of death in mass shootings. 

Keep up. Of course, hand guns can do significant damage too. Again, this is why we need more intense gun regulations. My overall argument. 

Mental evaluations for gun purchases, longer waiting periods. Simple mental evals could have prevented the VA tech mass shooting and last week's mass shootings because those gun sales would not have been cleared. an_light

So you want assault rifles banned. Only the “racist cops” can own them. 

And you want “intense gun regulations”. Mental evaluations and longer waiting periods.

 This is what's messed up about this post. No normal person who sincerely doesn't want something to befall a person says, "Hopefully this doesn't happen." When someone you care about leaves the house, you don't say, "Hopefully you don't get in a car wreck." These things go without saying, and it's bad ju ju to even put them out there.

Not necessarily. However, we can limit the production of such weapons and create more restrictions for assault rifle ownership. Raising the age to be able to purchase assault rifles to 21 at the federal level like handguns instead of 18 in certain states like Texas is one way to work toward prevention of these shootings. (common sense). How about creating mandatory mental evaluations and longer waiting periods for purchases of all guns?

How about a mandatory gun training program of 12 months for all new potential gun owners? And integrate mental and psychological tests into the training program before you can buy any gun.

There are so many creative options that can be tried in order to reduce gun violence through legally purchased guns. Currently, the government isn't trying anything and the right wants no restrictions, which simply cannot continue.

That bail can be a token denomination, like a dollar. It's not meant for violent crimes, and the judge simply misunderstood the new law. This particular judge didn't even have the authority to set bail in such a case. It was a mistake but not a miscarriage in judgement, as the dude is still in custody. Now, in theory, if the feds decide that one count of murder, and five counts of attempted murder doesn't violate his parole, and the case gets kicked back to local, in theory he could bail out for $1 but you said he was out on $1. And yes, my friend, that is fake news. Don't shoot the messenger.

There should be some compromise. A little give and a little take. 

One side wants 21+ for assault rifles, and one side wants voter ID. 

If you believe your new law will save lives and saving lives is what your concern is — this deal seems like a no brainer.
