One of these days you people on the left might understand mental illness kills people not the gun!
You're a sicko!
You're a sicko!
Too bad for your logic — you can’t change the fact that people get mental illnesses (esp also with so many being soldiers and going to war - do you have any idea what that can do to your mental health?) . It only takes a small part of the brain to be damaged for someone to become a psychopath. Do you know the saying, "There's a psychopath in all of us; it's just a matter of how much you need to be pushed for it to surface"? Or is that just something they tell us before going to war? I'm afraid I need to bust your fantasy bubble you have going “it won't ever change as long as you keep those gun laws in place.” And yes, you can quote me on that.

@Brooklyncapper
Words are not weapons at all. In no state in the country are you allowed to kill someone because of a word they said to you. In no courtroom in the country could you claim murder as self defense because someone said something you don't like. YOU ARE NOT allowed legally to murder someone because you don't agree with their opinion. I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand or why this is even a conversation.

Having a 2A right doesn't mean you can use it to murder. Just like having a driver's license doesn't mean you can take a car a plow people over with it. If this isn't victim blaming I don't know what is. It's like saying she deserved to be raped because she was wearing provocative clothing

Unless you are a hunter, on a daily basis faces dangerous wild life or you practise shooting as a sport - I can’t find a single reason apart from shooting someone why you would ever need to own a gun - that is like the most insane right if there ever was any ! I know why it is of course because the weapon industry own your country - but why you as a citizen has such a hard concept of hearing how idiotic that “right” sound is beyond me (“Dear mr president I want my right to be able to shoot every guy or woman I disagree with on my ways of life, thank you very much”)

Protection.
Protection.
@Calde13
The reason for the 2nd amendment was for the ultimate check on government tyranny. If the populace is armed it makes it much harder for a government to control its population. That's what the founding fathers intended.
Now, the right is universal so it extends far beyond that and its justification is personal protection, either against government tyranny or against someone that is trying to cause you harm. The argument you make is one I see all the time up north here in Canada which I disagree with. A firearm is ok if used only in personal protection. We had a guy who got killed due to a home invasion just a week ago, if he had a gun I am sure he would still be alive. And remember, a gun ban only penalized the law abiding citizens, if your a criminal and want to get a gun illegally your going to get one trust me on that
There does need to be some kind of extensive background checks which I feel too many states are lacking hence why some people with serious mental issues and even those with a criminal record are able to purchase guns. Maybe a basic psychiatric evaluation or something before you can legally purchase a gun or something to that extent to make sure that your not crazy.

Re-read my post. Deflection doesn't work with me.

Nope.
In this country we dont need to justify our rights or enter into some never ending circular reasoning discussion about them.
For better or worse and due to the nature of our inception, the founders deemed that important.
Register them, have my background run, restrict them in sensitive areas, and recording the muzzle bore pattern of every gun are all good practices.
Estimates have civilian gun totals at 500 million with 6 million of that number registered. With 2023 numbers, it would appear guns are not the issue.

Yeah. It's kind of hard to put the genie back in the bottle with so many guns already in circulation.

You guys don’t have to change for my sake - I actually “dont care” it is the same I don’t preach to an alcoholic that drinking is bad for you and might kill you ! And I wont preach for you how bad I find your gun laws - at the end of the day it doesn’t really affect me and if you guys have a “pact” between each other you want this - who am I to judge - but then stuff like this happen and it will keep happing - that was just my point - you can’t fight “mentally ill” people - you could kill them all today and you could start over tomorrow - if that was your approach for “fixing” stuff like this - but I don’t really get offended on behalf of others - doesn’t make your society seem less weird to me - and I am sure you would have the same way with Denmark as we are just very different

No, we'll stick to our current system of tracking this person through the near blanket of public and private surveillance, a clear sign of a free country.
Once apprehended we'll afford him (or her but let's be honest it's likely they/them) his right to a defense just like buddy in Charlotte or Minnesota.
Then when convicted we'll start the 10+ years worth of appeals housed in privatized prisons on the tax payer dime.
Finally in 10-25 years we'll wait for a weak or cognitively declined president to sit in office and have some random aid that idolized this guy off a Netflix documentary autopen a pardon.

Are you actually saying any person has no right to defend their life, family, and property with a gun - when most likely the crook already has one in the first place to take what he/she wants from you? If you answer yes to this, we have nothing to further discuss. No fixing what you have.

Let's be real. No them pulled this off. Thems shoot children through church windows. This was no trained marksman shot but it was a solid shot none the less. Rifle had to be zeroed near perfectly.

Are you asking what I would try to do if I ruled America or what ? I have just said I don’t decide for you - If I ran your country I would try to get rid of most guns yeah - I think there dies more now as it is than there would if only some criminals had it - I don’t think it makes you as a society more safe - if you ask me - but I can only use EU as an example since that is where I live - and here most criminals don’t even use guns for instance (then it is mostly to scare people if they do and not to shoot them) - almost only to shoot each other - there have only been 1 shooting of citizens in Denmark while I have been alive - and I know we are 60 times less people than US - but I would think you have had over 60 this year alone

Because you live in socialism/communism. They probably already took your guns years ago. I've hunted and target practiced since I was a child. No one has a right to take that away from me. I have never aimed a gun at a human being and never will unless threatened. The EU is going in a different direction than America. That's fine, I'll stay here and you live prosperously in Denmark. I won't force my beliefs on you and sure as hell you won't on me. "From my dead, cold hands"!

You have the rights they give you and you just fit into the society you live in - just like you aren’t allowed to kill people or drive over for red light - if they wanted they could easily take that gun right away from you (but I agree with the others that it at this point would be a logistic nightmare) - I am sure that you saying it would be over your dead body - could be demand that could be arranged ! But your politicians and your system aren’t interested in change ! Btw you literally just said what I also said - I dont want to decide for you - you do you - but then in that transaction you also accept that random people will get shot on a daily basis and this will happen again and again

Oh I don't know maybe to defend yourself from people trying to stab you in the neck on buses. It's also a deterrent. You would have to be very ignorant to only want guns in the hands of government. It's not coincidence Hitler Stalin and Mao all did gun grabs taking privately owned guns from the population before mass genocide insued.

We have two pieces of paper from our Founding Fathers called, "The United States Constitution" and "The Bill of Rights". By their declarations, no one will take my guns as long as I follow the rules which I have done for 64 years. I will not live in a country like China, Canada, or Australia where most of their guns were confiscated and have no way to protect anything if push comes to shove. Criminals will always find ways to get and use guns in a nefarious way. I want the opportunity to fill them full of holes if they go on a murderous rampage!
