Polls show most Americans disapprove of military strikes against Iran.  Apparently, Trump administration reasons for war make no sense.  In senate briefing, democrats criticize the lack of information to justify wasting American lives and billions of dollars in illegal and unnecessary war.

Intelligence!     One must look at the track record of Trump being stupid and wrong isn’t a new thing, however. And he’s surrounded himself with stupid people whose main qualification is sucking up to him.

Rational threat assessment isn’t something you’ll get from that.

When you've already made up your mind that you hate someone so bad, there is nothing that you will agree with that they do...it's how the psyche works.....this is why right and left cannot be objective in here or in the nation because everything is slighted for or against just because you despise them or their party...this is a root cause of why America is in a spiral with no end in sight....pretty obvious to see that....

Until people can be neutral in review of things and think on their own this will always be an imbalance in America....

I wonder how many on the left would be in this much strife if a Democrat President did the same thing as this Republican President??

We already know that the whole congress excuse is slighted to favor of whoever is Commander in Chief as is evident in many clips that have been viewed most recently of the Democrats having no problem of their Commander in Chief exercising their right to bypass congress on a number of occasions....so why is it a problem now...pretty obvious, and thus why the divide is terrible....good for your party line, but bad for the other party line is a fairly futile reasoning....a joke actually....it's either all bad or all good regardless of where you sit....

Actually, the recent poll I saw had it at a 50/50 split.   But even if the vast majority of citizens disapproved of the strikes, is this the most important thing the President should be focused on ???  (NO)

Sometimes, the President has to make difficult decisions that are in the best interest of the ""Country"" , even if the vast majority of its citizens do not recognize it at that time.. The more you Know.

They almost certainly knew.  These things are almost always done through the JCC with the base commanders.  
After Iran started firing into the surrounding gulf states it became very hectic.  Then this happened right after they had been hit in the area by an Iranian missile. 
So, even knowing the USA had planes up, they had a lot of various aircraft and drones and missiles up.  
Each radar has to correctly identify the aircraft.  
But misidentification happens in these situations.  You saw these friendly fire situations happen to aircraft in the Iraq War and the Gulf War, for example.  
Thankfully, everyone survived.  

All of Trump reasons for war are false according to Center for international policy.  Clearly, Iran war is illegal and unnecessary.  Although past presidents abuse war making authority, Trump is taking this further.  Refusing to seek approval from congress.  He functions as a maliciously out-of-control dictator.
