New poll says the presidential winner
should choose the next Justice, just
like the Republicans insisted in 2016

The Politico/Morning Consult poll released Monday shows that plurality of voters
surveyed (50%) said whichever candidate wins in November should choose the
next justice because the election is "fewer than 50 days away."

Only 37% said Trump should get to decide because he is currently president.
Another 12% had no opinion.

Independents also favored the winner filling the seat, 
with 49% agreeing and just 31% responding that Trump should make the pick.

Almost 500 top Military and
former national security officials
    - from both parties -
just endorsed Joe Biden !

WASHINGTON – Nearly 500 generals, admirals and former national security officials
from both parties endorsed Joe Biden on Thursday, and blasted President Trump
as "not equal" to the challenges of the job in a letter released Thursday.

Among the retired senior officers is Air Force Gen. Paul Selva, who until last year
was the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Trump.

The signature of a senior official like Selva, with recent, relevant experience advising
the Trump White House as the military's second-highest ranking officer, indicates
alarm about Trump's fitness as commander in chief, said Michael O'Hanlon,
a military analyst at the Brookings Institution.

NASA administrator Sean O'Keefe, a Republican, said in an interview
that the group intends to write op-eds for news organizations and
to speak out through the election, he said.

The letter praises Joe Biden for his morality, integrity and 
experience.  The letter excoriates Trump.

Most important, is it fair for Republicans to hold open a vacancy for the better part
of a year in 2016, when a Democrat was president — citing the pending presidential
election as a rationale — and then do a 180-degree turn when a Republican makes
a nomination?

Four years ago, Republicans were adamant in their determination to present their
actions as principled. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a USA TODAY
opinion piece that the Senate should hold up action on the nomination of
Merrick Garland because “the American people deserve a voice in such a
momentous decision.” Never mind that it was eight months before the election,
and that Garland had sterling credentials.

warns Trump poses 'grave and real threat to democracy'

The former chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court is warning that President Trump
poses a "grave and real threat to our democracy" because of his threat to not accept
the outcome of the election.
"I set out my thoughts here because I am compelled to believe that our country, and
thus our children and grandchildren, face a grave threat to keeping the kind of
representative democracy that we have experienced in our life," Charles Wells wrote
in a letter sent to friends this weekend and provided to CNN.

Wells added that he believes only a significant victory by Joe Biden will prevent Trump
from succeeding in undermining the legitimacy of the election.
"The only way that I can see that this threat can be eliminated is to vote for Biden,"
Wells wrote. "It will not be enough to just not vote for Trump. Any basis for a
contested election can only really be eliminated is by the election not being close. "

i texted a buddy of mine on tonight's debate final scores, my take is Biden 7 vs Trump 3. CNN's after debate poll shows Bidden 63%-Trump 28%. BUT poll is poll, we will find out, well hopefully, on early Nov. We have a AG Barr who is willing to do Pres. Trump's bidding, so who knows if there will be October surprises. Back in 2016, we saw one October surprise from former FBI director, James Comey.

Never underestimate your opponent, and never be complacent on any given election campaign. Run your campaign as your candidate is down 10+ points, thrust as hard toward the finish line.

The October surprise from Jim Comey's letter to the Congress to reopen Hillary Clinton's private email back in 2016 seemed the turning point of H. Clinton's defeat. Ex-FBI Director Comey single handed to the 2016 Trump's presidency, Comey issued that letter just 11 days prior to the 2016 election date. Now, we have only some eight days left before this election, will we have Comey's alike surprise? Time is running out.

The clock is running out on Trump's chances for a comeback.
He continues to trail Joe Biden nationally and in the key swing states
with just 8 days to go.
Worrisome for the President: he's clearly BEHIND his 2016 pace.

By this point in 2016, trump was rapidly closing the gap with Hillary Clinton.
No such advancements can be seen in the 2020 polling against Biden.

The 2016 campaign, was in great flux with 10 days to go.
Among a bunch of factors, like the James Comey letter and WikiLeaks.
No such bombshells of that magnitude have come out this year.
Clinton's advantage was down to only about 4 points in the national average
9 days from Election Day 2016.
By comparison, Biden currently leads by  9+ pts.

I could be wrong but I don't think there will be October surprise tossing out from FBI Director Christopher Wray. I think director Wray is an institutionalist, one of rare Trump appointees in his administration that I respect. As far as AG Barr, he might have sensed the Blue Wave is surging and flip of White House as well as Senate is a strong possibility. So, he'd better lay low for a hushed and easy retirement. It's all about the power play in politics.
