    an_police an_blowhorn  Inflation milestone:

Consumer Price Index slows below 3%
for first time since March 2021

                                                an_happydude
    CNN —

Price hikes slowed more than expected in July,
and, for the first time in more than three years,
the Consumer Price Index has landed below 3%.

That paves the way for the Federal Reserve to cut
rates next month after a years long battle with inflation. an_2drinks

an_speak   Sales at stores are suddenly surging in the US economy’s latest show of strength

    CNN -

Sales at US retailers unexpectedly surged in July,
the Commerce Department said Thursday, rising by
a solid 1% from the prior month.
That trounced economists’ expectations of a 0.3% gain!  an_2drinks

July’s reading is a boon for the US economy
because the country’s economic growth hinges
    on Americans spending their dollars.

For all of you economists out there, the United States has had the strongest economy since the pandemic. We have the lowest unemployment and the lowest inflation rate of any country in the world. For those of you who are still crying about the economy and how you feel, you should do a little more reading. This is how the free economy works. If you want government to keep their hands off, then why are you complaining about the administration? And any administration has very little to do with our economy other than creating jobs, which this administration has done well. The economy is largely up to the free marketplace, which you are a part of. Stop giving your money to the grocery stores who are bending you over. I was lucky to find a Hispanic grocery store where my vegetables now cost 1/3 of the price I was paying at my regular grocery store.

    @fubah2

here is the issue that no politician and most citizens do not want to face. Econ 101 says that during cycles of expansion the government should not only stop using debt it should use the excess in economic gains and thus taxes to pay down a deficit and to actually run a surplus and save. Same goes for citizens, when times are good you pay off debts you put money in savings and invest for the time in the future when things are not as good or when costs go up and you have need.

So while the economy has been good for Biden's term we are not acting with financial restraint as to spending and debt and that is due to all politicians refusing to consider a balanced budget or to increase taxes both to corporations and individuals, use those funds to run a strong government that can take care of the needs of the country now and in the future.

This is for sure not a party only issue, Trump ran massive deficits with lower rates, that is the absolute worst thing, we had ZIRP AND a good economy and Trump decides to give a tax holiday freebie to massive trillion dollar corps and reduce taxes when there will be no better time in the last 50 years to take a crack at the debt than the economic environment Trump had...it has never been a more opportune time to act with fiscal responsibility and yet you will NEVER hear those words from a BK/leverage hound like Trump, he has no understanding or comprehension of fiscal responsibility and so you never heard the suggestion of balanced budget, paying off debt and preparing for the future from him nor from Biden or anyone really.

Biden has exceeded expectations despite inheriting a mess from Trump.  Despite adversity, he has accomplished much to help US recover from pandemic.  American rescue plan.  Inflation reduction act.  Safer community act.  Infrastructure law.  CHIPS and science act.  Biden legacy might be as one of the best single term presidents in US history.

Gas buddy is projecting the national average price of gas on Labor day will be $3.27 a gallon.  This is the lowest price since 2021.  If OPEC increases supply in October, price will drop below $3.00 a gallon.

AGREED!  peace_5  trump too over the ball FROM OBAMA 1st down on the opponents 20 yd line and move it 20 yd to score.  All MAGAs pat him on the back for an "alleged" great job...

Biden took over the ball FROM TRUMP the convicted felon/rapist, after a pic 6, then a fumble, 3rd and long from his own 2...then marched it all the way downfield to score.

MAGAs insist Biden is awful and trump is great.

    Latest good news inflation data
a ‘bright green light’ for a rate cut!

                           an_cheers
    CNN —

The Federal Reserve’s go-to inflation gauge held at 2.5% in July, Commerce Department data showed Friday. That’s better than anticipated and shows progress.

Friday’s report also reaffirmed that the backbone of the US economy — the consumer — is still holding strong an_2drinks

The latest inflation reading, which served as further confirmation that the pace of price hikes is sustainably cooling, comes just weeks before the Fed is expected to start easing monetary policy and cutting interest rates. an_clap

“I thought the report was right down the strike zone,”
Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics,
told CNN in an interview Friday.
“Bottom line, it indicates that inflation continues to
moderate and is within spitting distance of the [Fed’s] target.”

I wonder if some of the people posting in these political threads are the ones capturing and eating people’s pets in Ohio! That’s today’s America under the demented one and his ho!

But it still is All Trump’s fault!
