    From CBS News

"The historic outpouring of support for Vice President Harris represents exactly the kind of grassroots energy and enthusiasm that wins elections," said Kevin Munoz, spokesperson for Harris' campaign.

"Already, we are seeing a broad and diverse coalition come together to support our critical work of talking to the voters that will decide this election."  Munoz said there is a "groundswell" of support for Harris.

The vice president officially launched her presidential campaign on Sunday, hours after Joe Biden announced he would be exiting the 2024 presidential race.
The president quickly endorsed Harris for the Democratic presidential nominee and a slew of other high-profile Democrats swiftly announced their backing for the vice president.

The Biden campaign quickly filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission renaming itself "Harris for President."

Among those who have thrown their support behind Harris are rising stars in the party who were considered possible successors to Mr. Biden, including Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and California Gov. Gavin Newsom

Indeed, magnitude of the newborn Kamala Harris' presidential campaign is just phenomenal, breaking all record of fundraising in the history of US presidential election.

New young voters have flooded the gate since Kamala Harris taking the helm. It's an encouraging news to our democracy.

    @KellyM_1964

Polling on down ballot Senate race remains really strong, the Congressional generic continues to favor Dems, newly released battleground fundraising is encouraging to the Dems. But, the game has to be played in November that's for sure.

While Biden was struggling to rally young voters and
minority voters around his reelection campaign,
Harris is more popular with those groups and
presents a major upside for Democrats, as they
need a high Gen Z and millennial turnout to remain
competitive in the key battleground states.

There's also evidence that Republicans will closely monitor polling over the next two weeks beyond Vance's low likability ratings, as a Trump pollster said  "Harris could get a numbers bump" following her expected ascent to the top of the Democratic ticket.

The newborn Harris campaign has been pulling in  more women, young and independent voters. In the contest of elections, you wanna expand your political tent rather than shrink it, I believe.

If it keeps trending like that I may have to reconsider my plans to bet against a Dem winning the WH.

an_police  America’s economic engine is still revving!
            — AND inflation is slowing!

    CNN -

Consumer spending accounts for the vast majority
of the US economy, about 70% of it.

Spending accelerated sharply in the second quarter
to an annual rate of 2.3%,
up from 1.5% in the first quarter!   an_cheers

an_light The latest GDP report showed that a key gauge
of consumer demand picked up in the second
quarter to an annual rate of 2.9%, matching the
rate in the fourth quarter of 2023 for the strongest
pace in two years! A measure of business investment
