Nashville for Olli Jokinen, a 1st round pick and Brandon Leipsic. The purge has begun.

I don't know if I would do anything in Nashville to fu ck up that chemistry. They are a wagon right now.

So Jokinen will be gone probably by April, who knows who this kid in the minors is. So basically leafs traded a decent defenceman in Franson and a serviceable Santorelli for a very late 1st round pick.

Leafs are now looking to unload Jokinen before the trade deadline.

The last time the losers made a "trade" like this, the Bruins won the cup.  What a filthy disorganization.  The 1st round pick will turn out to be another Tyler Biggs.  Franson and Santorelli were the only 2 decent players on that team.  Why don't the Leafs do themselves a favour and fold the team so they can stop embarrassing themselves and my city.  I seriously hope bell and rogers go broke and tanenbaum falls down an escalator and doesn't survive.

Franson already has played in Nashville in the past and Santorelli quietly goes about his business.

It doesn't matter what the Loafs do you will ALWAYS disagree with it. Both Franson and Santi were gone at the end of the season anyways.

I think the leafs are playing reverse psychology on us here. For nearly 2 decades the media and city have been overhyped on false hope

And now that they are admitting to reloading and rebuilding maybe now the players can just play and media might not be so tough on them because they have no hope ?

Franson has been getting progressively banged up.  My assumption is Shanny (Nonis' name should just be omitted in any of this talk as he is a limp dik lame duck choose your metaphor man walking at this point) wanted to lock in some value even in the form of a 30th overall pick.  Debatable trade.

total rebuild is the right move, just way too late.  We will see when the Habs win a cup after eschewing the need to rebuild.  If there is one thing we know in the cap era the only teams winning anything do it when talent is a) young b) cheap c) controllable... at least the Leafs are showing SIGNS that they want to play the game right going forward.  They have a lot to make up for.  Habs have never torn down hence probably will not win a Cup until they realize they lack the horses too IMO.

but habs barely gave up anything for vanek last year so maybe the price for rentals isnt high anymore

pardon? when they got Price at #5? That was the rebuild? When did the Habs bottom out Wiggins? Tear down and rebuild seems to be the only recipe now.

... other than Patches and Carey, where is the rebuild from the draft?? I believe the Habs avoided the tear down and rebuild method that seems best suited to working in today's NHL (a la Hawks, Pens, etc.)

your only basis for this tear down and rebuild is chicago and pittsburgh...Edmonton disapproves the theory completely..so its 1 team out of 30

what other teams have a price, subban and glachenyuk as their core? they finished 1st in the east 2 years ago, ecf last year and 1st in the east right now

you rebuild for a core..the habs have their core...they arent going to improve at any of those 3 positions by tanking
