    Gabbo -

This is what I posted on 2nd down about the safety....

If yoiu take the safety and kick off, you can expect Seattle to get the ball at their own 30 yard line. That means you have to defend 35 yards for a tie, or 70 yards for a loss. Remember - there are only 45 secs left.

If you punt, you are defending 45 yards for the loss.

    Good post Crash.

And that is my QUESTION too - I dont know the answer - and honestly dont know if it is written in the rulebook even.

If I have 10% and the defender has 90%, is that simultaneous possession?

Clearly Jennings had MORE of the possession.  But I still say that Jennings NEVER had teh ball when Tate didnt.

I have it frozen on my screen right now with Jennings having the ball to his chest. Tate left are is not really visible but I fell from its trajectory is caught in there too, cannot really be holding the ball as it is in Jennings chest and Tates right arm is touching the barely exposed tip of the ball.

Again, hard to say that is possession but if it is, you win.

To say this is possession though seems to be a stretch, as that hand is wrapped in Jennings chest.

For Tate to have possession with this hand, he would have to remove Jennings from the equation, there is little way to figure that he owns the ball that is cradled to the defenders chest with one arm wrapped in this mess.

If he had this much of the possession on the outside of Jennings, how would that affect your decision?

That cost me too much money on my bets and hurts even more so in that I was already counting the win....

I have to admit, I can see the argument but I simply do not believe Tates piece of the ball means he owns the ball (possession) he is touching the ball but by no means is he owning it.

When I think of these dual possession plays as a kid, we mostly both had the ball 50/50. Tate has maybe 15%, and that is generous.

Honestly, I am kind of surprised Jennings just did not rip that fucker from Tate with the amount of leather he has and that is the only thing making me think Van and the refs have a leg to stand on.

    Move on boys

    One view on the strike......

Let us never ever forget what the strike is about, it is about what most fights are about.......................................................................................................................

    MONEY

    so what is the issue?

The entire amount of salary discrepancy I read at the beginning of the strike is a  few million dollars, pocket change to the owners.

So what is the deal? It is the pension. The owners want the referees to lose  their pension. Why?

Well, the owners surely do not want to pay the refs pensions but I think this is just an angle to get what they really want, which is to not pay the players pensions and health. I have no facts with which to back this up but it is my conspiracy theory.

Start here and go after the players in a few years......

The backside for these players and their health care costs in twenty years with all the concussion information is scary, this may be an angle here.

    Who the fuck knows.

It's been said having one hand on the ball is absolutely not establishing possession.  However having two hands on the ball with it secured to your chest is sole possession

Tate never had posession of the ball.   the defender had both hands on the ball secured to his chest.  A one handed catch is different than merely having a hand on the ball while it is securely possessed by the defender.  Can't imagine any more than 1 percent of viewers disagreeing.

The packers ere the 1 team with no owner. This game will have zero impact on Referee strike/lockout

Clearly Jennings had MORE of the possession.  But I still say that Jennings NEVER had teh ball when Tate didnt.

Tate had the ball?   Him having a hand on the ball doesn't mean he had any possession.  I think that's where you seem to be confused.  tate established sole possession with two hands and ball against his chest that is sole possession

Jenning " I had total control of he ball, he had one arm on it"

Truly, there is not really a great picture or we would not be arguing it, it is a fucking cluster fuck with 20 arms all going everywhere.

For those saying it was one hand it was more like 1 whole arm. Jennings didnt have the ball to his chest because Tate's arm was there wrapped around the ball. If Tate only had 1 hand on the ball then Jennings would of easily been able to rip the ball away. But since Tate got his arm and his right hand on the ball (simultaneous possesion) it has to be awarded to the offensive player.

And for those wanting that pass interference, what about that one on Woodson that woulda put the ball around the 20 yard line??

I think you guys who are seeing this as black and white or justice vs injustice are getting it wrong....

My position is that Jennings never had possession without Tate having possession.

It is certainly up for interpretation.  There is also a question about Jennings body - and if you can have possession before you hit the ground - and if you land on someone else do you have possession.

I cant get past my statement above - that Tate always had a hand on the ball.  Yes - his second hand joined afterwards - but dont let that muddle what is important - that the first hand was on the ball the whole time.

    We will see...

Tate had the ball? Him having a hand on the ball doesn't mean he had any possession. I think that's where you seem to be confused. tate established sole possession with two hands and ball against his chest that is sole possession

Well - it wasnt against his chest because thats where Tates hand was.  Jennings had two hands on it, Tate had one hand on it.

Jennings had MORE possession that Tate.

    Im not debating that.

That's after he rolls over 20-30 seconds later after the ref had already ruled a TD. There's no point of that picture. In fact, that describes the whole 2nd part of the simultaneous catch rule

You clearly don't know what possession means that's your issue here.  Having one hand on the ball does not constitute as having possession.  That is black and white.  Not sure how you don't understand this

So if a running back has the ball a defender puts his hand in there to rip it out and has a hand on the ball that's dual possession too?   I don't think you understand possession

For all of those who can clearly know what possession is please tell us.

Just because you say having one hand on the ball in that situation does not constitute having possession does not make it so.

If you think Seattle had simultaneous possession you're fade material.
