C'Mon brother......When playing competitive sports, there is a time when in this situation you take a knee (when you have respect for another team, and when a team has never done this to you) You obviously forget who the coaches are and what happened in the last game.................

No sense arguing people who thin of sports competition as a business

Just like people think a Royal Flush is an unbeatable hand. If fucking happens but the odds are against you losing with that hand. Let's toss money that you will be six feet under before a team scores a meaningless TD in the playoffs instead of taking a knee and they lose the game because of it.

Van you are 100 % right.. The ONLY way the Pats win is if the runner does not go down and surrender.. Once he does (cant fumble laying down with no one around you clowns)  You knell . game over... But what is even WORSE  then that its  playoff time by not dropping to the ground the runner has now exposed the kickoff   team to injury.. Every defensive player has to go back on the field and play again.. What if on that last drive (which need not have happened) Revis breaks his leg .. Or like there was on the kickoff a return and the kicker gets involved and gets hurt.. How freaking smart is that... Can see a player let it  happening in the heat of a game becuase he was caught up ( it should not and one day wont).. But if anyone who is sitting behind a keyboard and thinks its the play.. GIVE UP BETTING.. In the long run you will lose because you dont understand the game and odds and your flipping coins.. Soon to be flipping burgers.. Its just not keeping them in the game its the INJURY factor.. For what ? To rub it in.. This aint HS its the pros...,.. class over..
Be careful with the axe Eugene.

Hey ya know what. If you outscore a team 28-21, you win 100% of the time. Let's here the argument the other way.

Oh I heard the point and the Jets won bro. Call me up when you're childish 'what if' comes in one day. I'm sure it will but who fuckin cares. Let it go. They odds are way stacked against you. Let's play this. Give me the team that scores a meaningless TD vs. taking a knee in a playoff game and you take the other team. I will take your money 99% of the time. Disagree? Deal?

Actually that TD wasn't meaningless because it put the Jets Defense back on the field and gave Brady another shot to score... And he did. If they recover the onsides kick and hit a bomb down the field and tie the game up, then that meaningless TD would come back to haunt you.

But Crow, it technically wasn't meaningless, it cashed in the over and Coach Ryan was laughing was way all the way to end zone with the rest of the team. He was rubbing it in. What's meaningless is this 'what if' thread. Like the lame joke, what if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. Oh 'what if' !!! The horror!

For people who really understand the game, the right thing to do is take a knee like Westbrook did a few years back, but the reality is most of these guys have instinct to score when given the opportunity.  Tough break for under bettors, but that is gambling for you.  I actually saw a live line on the Greek at -2000 on the monely line after it was a 7 point game.  That is probably the easisest investment.  I risked $520 to win $26.  Wow!

Today was a huge breakthrough in my relationship with my wife,  excluding the kids highs and lows (obviously), this my have been the pinnacle in our 16 years together

It's been a shitload of years of my preaching and ranting about this take a knee at the one/let them score the TD  issue.  For all those years she has either looked at me like I'm a lunatic or gives the standard,, "What are you talking about,, they're now ahead by more." response.

But today she actually almost beat me to the punch by yelling---  "Go down ,, Go Down,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, awwww  you fn' dipshit you should've gone down at the one."

My eyes got a little glassy, I could feel a lump in my throat, and I may have even told her that I cared about, and was proud of her....

    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Off topic------ I think my next post is 1000,,,,,  I've taken pride (don't know why) in the fact that I've never just posted a emoticon, or a GL as a comment....   I think I may for the big "1000" I'm going to do just that........

There is no rational way to dispute this. I'd be surprised if many teams don't teach it. Eventually the low-percentage event will occur, bite someone in the ass and they'll be as famous as Piscarcik. And, then it will be coached by all. It is just a matter of time.

I hear that the Oakland Raiders are still looking for a new head coach. Please, I beg you, go for an interview.

"You have to score this TD because it shows what kind of team we are,,,, even if it drops our chances of winning."  YEA!!!!   FUCK YEAA!!!!....

Here's a scenerio that comes to mind, and I would really challenge you to open your mind to this possibility.

Your left arm loses feeling, you find yourself cluching your chest and you can't take normal breath of air,, this is it,,,

You make it to the hospital and are presented two doors..  on the left you 100% guarenteed to survive the procedure and you will be left with a 9" scar down the middle of your chest.

On the right for the exact same amount of money, you are offered a 96% chance of seeing the next day, and you will have a 8 3/4" scar down the middle of your chest.

What's it going to be pretty boy/ tough guy?

I'm just glad some of you bet on what "makes sense if the average Ivy Leage graduate with a Master in Engineering was playing" because we all need the square $

If he was all about "sticking it to the Patriots", why were they playing a prevent defense after scoring a touchdown?

They wound up winning by the same amount of points if they had ended up taking a knee, with the only difference being it was a GUARANTEED WIN..

Mathmatically speaking, great point.  My question is, where does momentum and confidence come into the equation.  Putting up 28 against a NE team and possibly winning by a 2 touchdowns may give the JETS added confidence and a psychological boost going into Pittsburgh next week.

Love reading your analysis on parlay bets etc.  Always great posts. If you don't know the math, you'll lose overtime

It's still well over 99% in my opinion to win the game.  I think it is so minute its almost irrelevant, although the proper play is probably to down it.  Still definitely worth celebrating though.  They definitely higher their % to win with a td than other possibilities on that play.

Why do so many people insist on arguing with logic?

The correct play would have been to down the ball. 100%

    Case closed.

WHAT????         No way,,,, not you Too Moo,,,,,,,

Damn it,,,  I love your stuff,, top shelf, but I'm just going to have to give you a mulligan on this...

99% -----REALLY??   I actually would put the chances of the "ultimate miracle"  at around 95 or 96% which I wouldn't consider irrelevant.   Hell,,, this example today was a mere two or three plays away at the end, from ending this arguement.

I would take odds on that first NE TD drive between 25% to 35%,,,then the onside recovery in that situation goes off at around 10%..     half minute to go for six, from midfieldish with NE,,,,,  10% IMO

Just like people think a Royal Flush is an unbeatable hand. If fucking happens but the odds are against you losing with that hand. Let's toss money that you will be six feet under before a team scores a meaningless TD in the playoffs instead of taking a knee and they lose the game because of it.            ROYAL FLUSH   IT IS A UNBEATABLE HAND  AND THAT DUMB MOFO COST ME JETS M.L BY RUNNING INSTAED OF FALLING ON IT.........dumbasses
