Yeah yeah yeah, my boys, the high & mighty New England Patriots were defeated. Let's not kid ourselves like we're Bart Scott though, no one thought the Patriots defense was better than the Jets. And one game doesnt change much. Belichick is still the best coach in the NFL. Brady is still 1 or 1a with Manning. Sanchez is good, but he's still not Top 5 good. Rex Ryan is fat but still not Top 5 for coaches. But they're right on the brink, that's for sure.
The Jets beat the Patriots because of QB pressure. Bottom line, that's the reason. Brady had no time in the pocket and when the Jets allowed him time, it was because they had more in coverage and therefore Brady had no one open. Meanwhile Sanchez had no pressure! That may be the achilles heel of the Patriots, maybe they need some more pass rushers. Sanchez with 7 seconds to find a receiver beat Brady with 2 seconds.
Even the play that, I believe decided it, Brady to Branch on that crucial 4th & 13, Brady had to rush that throw because he felt pressure. Gotta wonder how the game woulkd've finished had they kicked the god damn field goal though.
Enjoy the victory Jets fans, the Jets won it fair & square. No botched referee calls. No questionable replays. Hell, the Jets tried to keep the Patriots in it with their 4th TD to give the Pats a second chance at an onside kick! And the Pats had a chance at both of those, but they didn't execute! But the Jets did.
Next week will be a different story. The Steelers lead the league in sacks. Sanchez won't get a lot of time back there and I doubt he throws 1 TD. On the flip side, the Steelers offensive line is their achiles heel so the Jets should be able to pressure Roethlisberger just as much as Sanchez gets pressured. The winner will end up being either the team with the better rushing game....or the team who doesn't make a stupid turnover.
Either way....my money will be on the Under.
Go Packers.

When the Jets played the Steelers in week 15, the Steelers pash rush did not even touch Sanchez. Not even once. The Jets also ran for over 100 yards vs. the Steelers. No other team in the league did this all season

Steelers were without Polamalu, entirely different defense with him in there

Takes a big man to admit when he is wrong. I agree with everything you said except Rex Ryan is not a top 5 head coach. Guy has done nothing but win since he took over for Mangina last season. Yeah he is a fat slab who likes feet but that doesn't discredit the fact the guy is a master motivator and a defensive guru.
Jets/Steelers is a tough one to cap. Two great defenses and sporatic offenses. Think you nailed it 100% that this comes down to which team doesn't make the costly turnover.

So you're telling me all of the other great pass rushers the Steelers have couldn't even touch Sanchez just because Polamalu was out?
Yes...with Polamalu in there...the other pass rushes can be MUCH more aggressive knowing that they have one of the best defensive backs in the league behind them. Without that safety valve, the Steelers had to tone back their blitzes a little bit.

Pitt played a very generic game vs the Jets last time part and parcel because of Troy not playing and because in fact that game really meant zero to them.. Huge for the Jets in off two losses ..They knew (due to mind numbing tie breakers win or lose they still had to win the last two games for homefield) In fact after they lost they got a playoff spot and win or lose they still would have needed the last two.. They played a base defense just in case the Jets came back in later and wala.. Pitt outgained the Jets by 100 yards and gave up a TD on a KO and a safety and still were on the 10 yard line at the end of the game trowing it in the end zone for a win.. No Troy and Miller (TE) who much like Heap for Balty is huge.. A basic defensive game plan (not sure if kiesel (dt) played) and a slightly disinterested Pitt team will not occur this time.. Jets are a fine team but dont confuse the last game with this one..
Be careful with the axe Eugene.

If you honestly think that Polamalu being in there doesnt change EVERYTHING for the Steelers, you're kidding yourself & know very little about the game of football

Now that I think about it, I have Rex Ryan sitting 5th. I have Belichick, Tomlin, Peyton & Harbaugh ahead of him. I think the first 3 are self explanatory but Harbaugh has been able to take his Ravens to the playoffs in each of his first 3 seasons which I still think is better than Ryan's resume. With that being said, if the Jets get to the Super Bowl, regardless of whether they win it, I'd then move Ryan up to 4th. Possibly 3rd if they win the whole thing.
But Belichick & Tomlin are still hands above the rest for at least another year.

By your logic, the oddsmakers know very little about the game of football. In week 15 the Steelers laid -3.5 WITHOUT Polamalu. Now it's the same -3.5 WITH Polamalu.
You and the rest of the Steeler fan base seriously overvalue the Polamalu factor.
Bitcoin, not crypto.

found the exact record. "During the last two seasons, the Steelers are 14-4 when Polamalu plays but 5-7 when he doesn't."
How can you say he doesn't matter that much?
Pitt fan but those numbers are a little misleading.. Last year Smith (dl) went down at the same time and Ziggy Hood was not ready to help Pitt with his play like he has this year.. Plus Gay (cb) had a self admitted horrid year following the SB win and party that followed.. Replacec by Mcfadden...So as a whole Pitt was bad last year not just because of Troy.. This year without Troy the record is much better and he was not missed as much.. Dont get me wrong he is a force (sometimes) but Pitt does not win or lose anymore with or without him.. Plus Ryan Mundy his replacement this year has played much much better when in then last years replacement.. Great player but like in the Balty game he can disappear and Pitt still wins.. Stats as we know lie all the time.. Such is the case here.. Is Pitt better with him.. Yep.. Is it as big as deal as the numbers show... Hell no..

You put Harbaugh in there? I live in Baltimore and you must be near because everyone around thinks the guy is good....but me. If I had Ryan or Harbaugh to choose - either Harbaugh, I'd take Ryan in a minute. Hell, I'd take Raheem Morris before Harbaugh.

"1 or 1a with Manning"????
He is 1. Roethlisberger is 2. And Brees or Rivers is 3. If you like a lot a lot of regular season yards, undeserved individual awards, and interceptions in the postseason, Manning is your guy.
