Why is Marcum such a favorite on his first start?  Also don't think the Mets should ever be this much of a favorite unless Harvey pitches.  I think this Pettibone has good stuff.

Haren is due.  The opening line should not have had Haren as the favorite, especially after his outing earlier this season in Cincinnati.  The Reds are struggling to produce hits and runs right now.  They must be tired from the series in Chicago.

Tigers are the better team and they are playing at home.  This line should have opened higher due to a Porcello Start.

    adding one more for tonight:

    CLE Indians ML +145

Well I noticed a certain trend with the royals, every time they have had a day or 2 off between games they lose the first game back.Cleveland has the offense to compete with the royals, scary with kazmir on the mound but I don't believe he has the same awful start that we saw last time out.

there are not enough words to express my happiness seeing one more product of our great threads. me and you go back already some time from mavin's nba thread and now it is the time for me to show my appreciation for your great progress musicmatt. i still rememeber those puppies as your avatar (one was puppy i think and another one a german sheppard) and your lengthy stories and now here you are a winner on your own.
i agree with your earlier assumptions that we might never ever understand the genius of the man behind mavin, but he sure gets the best out of good people and makes them better as people first, makes them confident and only after that makes them better cappers. i was the great example on nba, king midas was as well the product of that man's genius and among many others and less norticables - now it is you. congratulations my friend and i wish you success as in here in every aspect of your life.

i agree with your earlier assumptions that we might never ever understand the genius of the man behind mavin, but he sure gets the best out of good people and makes them better as people first, makes them confident and only after that makes them better cappers. i was the great example on nba, king midas was as well the product of that man's genius and among many others and less norticables - now it is you. congratulations my friend and i wish you success as in here in every aspect of your life.

Apropo the recent discussions about line movement, I've been following lines a bit more closely in the past couple of weeks.  The Twins / Rangers game today is in line with a few games I've noticed earlier in the season.  Despite a huge public majority on Texas, the line has moved in favor of the Twins.  This suggests the Twins are the play.

Minnesota has lost two one-run games in this series despite poor hitting (16 hits in two games).  If they can get their bats going they should be due for a win.  Hernandez has pitched well recently, although it's all been in relief.  He's well rested, missing a couple of starts with all of the Twins rainouts.  There's good value in this line, as this game seems like more of a pick.  I'll fade the public and take the value.

GOOD JOB! monitored line movement saw the value and bet accordingly, and it pays out

keep up the line watching, despite what that guy said, i also believe this game was definitely RLM.. hope the bullpen holds on for you, as even if they don't it was still a solid pick, since your reasoning was perfect.

    Hekili1  15-14  +91$

    SF Giants ML -105

Giants bounce back with Zito on the mound.  They get it done with great value on the ML.

    KC Royals -1.5 +120

Santana will outpitch Kazmir no doubt...KC at home, don't see them only winning by 1.  Will take the better value with the RL.

As much as I respect Mavin - I don't think he's a genius or something of that kind and also don't think he likes to be called one. IMO, he's comfortably wealthy person who is addicted to the thrill and can't live without our admiration. He has a great way of bringing people together and great way to better them - true, but where is his contribution top all this? Is bringing good and smart people together under one roof is enough reason to be called a genius? May be. But I don't think that the move is complete yeat and I feel we're here to see some rabbits our of the hat with that person.
What's next Mavin? A contest on Financials? I wish

    adding:

    KC Royals -1.5 +130

    BOS RedSox -1.5  -130

Rested KC bats and supeior pitching gets it done

Peacock has nothing going for him, and looks to get shelled relatively early
Pen wont get job done, and Doubront and offense does well to cover.

Thanks!  Twins had it all going today -- bats, defense and pitching.

Any game can go either way, but +130 was a great number on a game that seemed like a 50/50 call.  There's no reason the Rangers should have been giving that much, and the result played that out.

    KCsFinest829 30-37-1 -621$

    CLE Indians ML +140

    Same reason as yesterday.

Over 7.5 CHI Cubs - MIA Marlins -110

I like the bats better than any level of pitching in this series.

Under 9 CLE Indians - KC Royals -120

I think the Royals bats take this one off as well as Ervin continuing to pitch well after the first inning.

Thank you Mr. Phixer for your kind words. I've admired your work for some time.

I started thinking yesterday that part of the reason of me not seeing this evolve the way I wanted, was me not leading the discussions. I will work harder to guide as I am familiar with our process.

As for my story, it's still as mysterious as your avatar and Mavin's genius. TurboVTK and I have worked very hard on bettering my approach and I could not thank him enough. As I am grateful to Mavin and all of us that contribute. Moving to Delaware and knowing absolutely no one but my fiancé, you guys have become my "bar mates" as Mavin said.

My story here is far from over as we will all get better and we all start 0-0 everyday. Some people don't understand this but we don't let them stop this.

Let's ALL keep being better and it will make the world better!

I understand what you're saying about the system and not reasoning but can't agree with you there. This thread is about bettering ourselves through pregame and post game discussions based on our reasoning before the game and analysis after the game - and those who constantly do that are getting better themselves exercising discipline and self restraint as much as picking the games and their outcomes after making sure with each other about the viability of the angles etc. Therefore I have to decline your kind offer to contribute only through posting the picks without the reasoning. However - I wish you the best of luck with your picks and you're welcome to post them without entering the contest.
But, if you'll decide to meet the requirements listed above - I urge you to do it in the right format - the same all the posters use here.

As for my story, it's still as mysterious as your avatar and Mavin's genius. TurboVTK and I have worked very hard on bettering my approach and I could not thank him enough.
