Blue Jays/Phillies Under 7.5 -105
Game time just got pushed back by a half an hour due to rain, and that makes this an easier bet to make. They won't start this game if it looks like they will have to take another delay, which at least should ensure us that the starters won't get in for 2 IP before they break for an hour. Soriano was great for the Halos, and now makes a lateral move to another bad baseball team, so not much should have changed for him aside from the scenery and passport. Wheeler has been as advertised. The Phillies are 14-4 when he pitches, and his ERA has dipped below 2.50. The hapless Jays offense shouldn't be able to do much against him, especially with no Vlad. The Philly offense is as potent as any when they are on, I just think Soriano will be able to keep them at bay. He faced them last year, and went 7 IP with only 2 ER allowed.
New York Mets +120
Zac Thornton has been very reliable for the Mets since coming up at the end of June. HIs last two starts being his roughest, but still gave his team a chance to win in each of them. The Pirates line up also very much prefers to face RHP, so the lefty will give them fits. Mlodzinski hasn't started a game since the end of May, and has been shakey at times out of the pen. The Mets bats are finding their stride here without Soto, and I'll ride those at plus money vs a not very good Pirates team.
Athletics +240
But the As have lost like 15 of 20 and the Red Sox have won like 25 of 30!!! I know. There is certainly a great amount of risk involved, but given that the Red Sox just played the game of the year, that took nearly 5 hours, and several comebacks to finally finish in 13 innings. Chad Tracey even said after the game that "everyone is exhausted, it's just better to be exhausted after a win, than a loss". These guys can't have anything in the tank. They used damn near every arm in their bullpen last night too. I know the As offense stinks, I just have to take the flyer at the price, given the circumstances.
Atlanta Braves +114
Fried going up against his former club, but Tyler Mahle is the story, getting out of the hell hole that is San Francisco and playing now for a team that has a chance to do some real damage. This Atlanta offense in this stadium should be rather entertaining. They've won 8 straight, and the pitching has done most of the heavy lifting, but in this little league stadium, the offense should be able to chip in.
Baltimore Orioles +128
I can't believe the Rangers are ever favorites in a game. Especially with old man Eovaldi on the bump. Baz has been everything the Os hoped he would be when they acquired him, and he has a more potent line up behind him. Congrats Ranger fans, you got a couple Ws vs the Giants, but those don't count for much. Back to real baseball teams unfortunately for them.
Arizona Diamondbacks +156
Another risk/reward play. The Dodgers are reeling and that produces good opportunities to cash on big dogs. Kelly got beat around his last start, but prior to that he was great in all of July. Sasaki has been good too, just fading this offense while they try and figure out where the runs are going to come from.
Tampa Bay Rays +102
Rasmussen hasn't given up a run in his last two starts and is coming in as a dog?? To the Mariners that have been shut out twice in their last three games??? Please.
