Whats the routine with hosts in Vegas? How much does one need to be betting to get lined up with a host?

Not sure what it would take on sports bets.
My buddy who plays slots plays ~$6000 on his annual trip there, and he gets the VIP treatment.
I only talk to a host when making reservations or checking my play at the end of the trip, but I'm not sure if that is what you are referring to. Betting $100 a hand for a few hours on a table game will get you a host, I'm sure.
