I'll find the stats on Texas. I remember a segment on 60 minutes or Nightline that showed liberal gun states to be far less violent statistically in regards to gun homocides and violent crime.
More gun carry = a whole lot safer. Didn't surprise me at all.

I did a Yahoo search on '2012 gun related homicides by state' and the first article that I saw Alaska in said it has high gun related and relaxed gun laws.
States with weakest firearm laws lead in gun deaths: study

FBI 2012 per state. I live in Ca and cannot carry. Not that I would but use this ridiculous state as a comparison to others. Criminals have the bigtime advantage.

People in California are still allowed to own guns, they are closer to the Mexican border, more gangs than most other states, more financial hardship/stress and denser population.

Take a look at drug use and depression incidence in Alaska.....off the charts. Weird things happen when it doesn't get light for months on end. TONS of other factors to consider when looking at these numbers.

I tried to look up pre-assault weapons ban around 1989 and it doesn't show much statistics for those years for gun related homicides but one article did make it seem that the banning of assault rifles did lower the homicide rate. That being said then wouldn't you say that the control of certain firearms do have a positive effect on lessening gun violence?
I understand times have changed, people have changed and laws have changed but that might be one good indicator.

I think it's also important to know if these acts of violence are completely random or not.
I think some guy waiting at a light getting randomly killed by a stranger is much different than a drug dealer or gang member killing another drug dealer/gang member.

Yep, and I think if you were to use Chicago 2012 murder rate gun related homocides or whatever the headline is, would work well as a search indicator.
They had over 500 in 2012.
It seems that as long as most of the people feel 'safe' and the high concentration of violence stays within a certain area then the public as well as the police are satisfied. Containment. Some of these people are animals nothing you can do about them tearing each other apart.

That states which allow registered gun owners to CC are statistically equal to or lesser than states with conservative gun (handgun) murder rates.
In other words. If Americans nationally were allowed to arm and defend themselves outside of the home then the murder/violent criminals would think twice before they pull out that rusty chitty .38.

....and the best place to rob a bank is California. I'm not going to rob a bank in Minnesota. Hutch could be standing right behind me with his Desert Eagle. And guess what - he has a permit to carry that beast. He can legally unholster that firearm and blow me out of my socks. He doesn't need permission.

LOL
The articles or statistics didn't really prove either side.

Would you venture to take a guess that if Los Angeles were CC and Orange County residents weren't allowed, would you say Orange County's homicide rate would be higher?
How about we try that based on city- say Irvine versus Oakland.

I know but the angel is in the details, it's there but none of us are experts at micro statistics. Have a friend that is the gangster of stat perfection, he will blow up these figures. Will let you know.

There's also a statistic that basically showed that people that carry guns are more likely to die if a situation occured since you know damn well if you were to rob a bank you are gonna make doubly sure you take out the people that are carrying or you just take them out just becaue you know they might be packing heat.
It seems that people that carry weapons are more scared of a random act occuring even though stats say that most crime especially violent crime is usually perpetuated by someone they know. In other words, don't fear the boogie man, fear your friends and family.

That's a damn good question and to be honest I would guess gun homocides would increase in all that you mention. There are just too many gangsters in Ca, I live here and I see these pukes in my area every day. We're talking at the beach too.
If Ca were to allow me to carry then the punks east of PCH will match and carry even without a permit. (they do anyway because they don't give a phuck).
LA and Orange county forget it. Too many gangsters. The shootings would escalate imo.

I'm not worried about you Search. I'm sure you are top notch 'sharpshooter'. I'm just worried about all the others that are packing. My chances of dying when 10 people got their guns out firing away might be much higher than one lunatic with a knife.

Well part one I agree with, that is of course you don't conceal it and walk around town like Wyatt phuking Earp. Otherwise, criminals don't know that my Colt .45 is strapped to their chest.
Part 2 no argument. I know that stat well. I would think that a CC would be more likely to defend an innocent person before they would draw on a potential threat to themselves.
The key is to shoot the bad guy in the back (headshot preferably), that way he doesn't have a chance to return fire. That would be my plan. Otherwise, he draws first and he wins. I'm not Billy the Kid.
Take my money and beat the crap out of me.... I live though most likely.

I wouldn't worry. CC holders don't reach for that weapon unless ski resorts go up in hell, that's a statistical fact. They want no trouble and will smartly talk a situation down before any pull. They know what power they have and will use it only in a life death situation. I know I would.
Now the guy that is violent and responds to no reason after pulling a knife on you is a different creature. You take 3 steps back, draw your Magnum 500 Grizzly bear gun and ask him politely to step away. If all efforts fail then proceed to blow a dinner plate hole in his upper rib cage.
