I think TT has had a bit of kryptonite added to it's gatorade lately as well.
This matchup is not as cut and dried as it may seem, Ole Miss is very good and Tech plays in a conference with very litttle defense, I like the DOG here, but if Tech plays up they will win, make any sense.

First thing, I noticed a lot of posts in regards to the national rankings in the above posts ("Tech is ranked 7th and Mississippi is 25th, how does Ole Miss have a chance?") THROW OUT THE RANKINGS SYSTEM!! Clearly this year they have not meant anything (see OK St and Oregon, BYU and Arizona, Boise and TCU, Georgia Tech and LSU, etc.) The rankings mean nothing and should certainly not be the basis for you selecting one team over another.
The questions about the Big 12 are very relevant and the big loss to Oklahoma is troubling. Tech scored a lot of points against teams with no defense (most Big 12 opponents) but against Oklahoma they could only muster 21 points?? I very much like Mississippi in this one, but I think I like the UNDER even better. I can't see Tech hanging a lot of points on a good defense like the one that Ole Miss has, and lets not forget the nagging injuries hurting Harrell and Crabtree...one "well placed" hit could spell disaster for that team.

Huge disappointment factor here for Tech as well...dreams of a national championship turned into a Cotton Bowl bid against Mississippi. I can't see Tech fighting to get back into this game if they fall behind by 10+, I just don't think the motivation is there.
Leach strikes me as the kind of guy who would have classified this as an "all or nothing" season, making this game meaningless in his opinion. Mississippi has the motivation, the will to win, and the better defense...a few more reasons to side with them!

Going with the majority here. Miss and the Under. Absolutley getting killed this Bowl season. 5-19. Parlays included. To think I was going with TT and over until I read some of the posts. I suck. I wish good luck to all. Need a winner deperately.

What Big 12 teams do you refer to? Every conference has weak teams. Ole Miss is solid but can be beat. There defence is not hands down the best. We're told defence wins games, but defences gets tired to. It comes down to ball controll. TT will win by 10-14 pts.

I completely agree with what you are saying...being from Wisconsin and seeing Big 10 teams constantly for 5 months I know each conference has rotten defenses. But I think it is safe to say, on the whole, that the Big 12's defenses don't stack up to the SEC's defenses. With the rankings that I use (from an source that will remain unnamed so I can continue to post here at Covers) 6 of the top 20 defenses in the country come from the SEC, and 0 of the top 20 come from the Big 12. Take that for what its worth, but that is where that comment came from. Thanks for keeping me honest Cipp!

Pay attention to the unders today..............I'm just saying that they went 4-1 yesterday and 4-1 on New Years's Eve.......even Oregon and OSU stayed under the night before.......These matchups in the bowls aren't against conference foes that these powerful offenses see all the time and take advantage of middle of the road teams and pile on!!! These are teams that have never or rarely played each other and are usually evenly matched. Not to mention the layoffs that keep getting stretched out more and more every year!!! I would expect the unders to go at least 2-1 today........And I believe this game starts it off......now which of the other two games today stay under?

I think due to Miss putting up 31 points against a very tough Florida defense, another 30 on LSU, etc gave me the feeling that this one will go over the total. I think this is a trap game to get more money on tech. Ole miss def can play with the big boys although they dont have the sexy name as a florida texas or tex tech. I am now taking old miss plus the points. may even wager something small on the over..Ole miss is the play here.

PSTAR, I don't believe any of us use wagerline %. We use vegas %. But, you're correct, wagerline numbers are bogus.

I have used covers numbers for reference but realize there is no $$ involved there and would love to see actual figures. Actually pretty good...I had Penn St. in two teasers...one +16 and one +19. I felt they would stay respectively close and they did. Hell, they almost pulled within a TD at the end...it was far from a blow out.
