So what's the "snapshot moment"? I like Clemson too.. From a talent mis-match point of view. They still have FSU on deck, and playing on the road..

"Snapshot moment" - Taking what you just saw or have seen and applying it to future events.

College football cant be viewed that way. So much changes in a week. Scenario, expectations, venues, emotion, injuries, momentum, lookaheads, letdowns....Capping college football comes down to "gambling intangibles". Anybody can look up stats and rankings....it takes a keen eye to avoid all that crap and what ESPN throws at you and look at the game 360 degrees.....obviously every favorite is supposed to win....simply doesnt work out that way.....theres a reason

Yet how many outcomes (sides, totals) are decided by something that's completely unpredictable. Like the FSU game, or the Michigan game the last week. The countless times a team gets backdoored on a large spread. Or some weird fumble that shaved 14 points off the board (spread or total). How can one handicap all that?

There is a rule: make the spread 7 points worst and if you still like the side or total to a decent extenct, then you bet it.

So a -23 spread would require confidence that that team can at least be up by 30.

    Agree?

Talent wise Clemson should cover this week- I just believe this is a bad spot and N.C. State will be fired up to try and knock Clemson from the unbeaten ranks- Dabo has these guys dialed in but somewhere in the back of their minds they can't wait to play the Criminoles especially after what happened last year- N.C. State can be a dangerous team- plus sooner or later I have to start betting more underdogs!

Gambling intangibles bro. For every bad beat you take, in that same game someone gets a "lucky" break. There is not such thing as luck. Its black/white, right/wrong.

In the 2 examples you gave, neither Michigan or FSU was going to cover the spread....yep, they lost SU. Bad luck? Nope....

Gambling intangibles bro. For every bad beat you take, in that same game someone gets a "lucky" break. There is not such thing as luck. Its black/white, right/wrong.

In the 2 examples you gave, neither Michigan or FSU was going to cover the spread....yep, they lost SU. Bad luck? Nope....

    Boom_Boom,
Take a look at the over on the Wazzo/Stanford game. Presently it is at 66. This to me looks like a 5 star play.

Boom: Whenever I wanna bet on the Habs to win, or the puck line (-1.5), I re-question myself to see if I am not being biased towards my own team. Same when I wanna bet an over or under. I mean I wanna see them win and the games are exciting. The last thing I want is a bet to ruin my mood. And usually I win my bets that involve the Habs.

I know my team, we hear about them on the radio all the time. The radio people talk about games very objectively and are not afraid of being critical or even throwing out a comment like "the coach had to say that no matter what".

So let me ask you this Boom, is that how you feel about Clemson this weekend, ONE THE ROAD, with FSU on deck, with the playoffs on sight if they just run tables?

It's gonna be harder for Clemson to clear two TDs on NC St. Very sharp line and more so than it appears. I trust Clemson though, and would not back NC St, so  no play for me. I will be waiting for a soft line vs FSU, and THEN I expect an A game effort, and a clear win. Have to wait in this game.

One question, why isnt Ohio St ranked higher in your rank? Based on the Utah perception you had as being in your top because they deserved it, didnt Ohio St deserve to at least be top 4?

Im not a fan of the Buckeyes, nor I do like they way they play because I think there are better teams ahead of them, Baylor, Clemson, LSU, TCU, but they have not lost yet and they hold a national championship, dont they deserve to be there at least until they lose which they are in my opinion.

No. You have answered your own question. Ohio State's status quo ranking is all they got for themselves. Look at some of their wins, just squeezing by bottom-mediocre teams. Sure they control their own destiny, as do pretty much all of the undefeated teams from the Power5.

    Good Afternoon Mr Boom,

I actually have Clemson ( before the injury at Baylor ) as my number one team going into this week. This game always i sone to circle as NC State could give them a bit of a run but Clemson will pull it out. Living in Philly everyone is crazy about Gameday coming the game is sold out Saturday. For a Temple game a first especially at the Linc. I'm sure it will be equally divided ND Fans and Temple but I couldn't agree more this is a bit of a mismatch. Temple will fight the have a 2nd round draft pick at the Mike who makes a ton of big plays but ND wins this. I'm just hoping Temple hangs around for a half... The first 7 minutes will dictate this.. Good Luck this week

    A few notes:

Ohio st is a threat. This team for whatever reason was never complete with Cardale Jones as their leader. I have been saying for weeks that I thought this team was headed in the right direction, covering 2 large spreads back to back both in which I was on. Here is the issue I think most have, it's the schedule. But hey, you play the hand you're dealt, so with that being said Ohio st just needs to do whats in front of them and block out the haters. Keep winning and their in.

Clemson's beat down of Miami yesterday even caught me off guard a little im not gonna lie. Look Miami is a very good offensive team and they got punked. I was almost sure we would win the game 10-14 point range, but that was a statement game IMO. But the beatdown IMO wasn't the most impressive thing Dabo did yesterday. Right before the half the Miami players were running their mouths like they were ALL DAY. Dabo sat his team down at mid field and told them there are women and kids in the stadium and if he heard them get caught up in that nonsense he would send them home. every player was completely locked in and quite. Dabo has this teams respect and they are locked in right now, as I said last week to few....If you don't think Clemson can play on the field with Bama or a LSU, you're a fool.

Was not surprised at the USC beatdown of Utah. I was one of the first to call that Sunday evening. Look, Utah is a nice team and I had them in my top 5 and playoff because they were deserving. It didn't matter what my true opinion of them were. They deserved to be there, now with that being said, I knew things would work themselves out. GL the rest of the season Utah fans, you still have a very good football team.

This nonsense about showing grit and toughness is pure and utter garbage. EsecPN should be ashamed of their propaganda. It's completely out of control. I can assure you with 100% certainty that if any other team would have struggled to beat a average and let's be completely honest here, Tennessee is a AVERAGE football team.... EsecPN would have called them out, but not Alabama. The rule book says, bama has to be ranked the highest 0 loss, 1 loss, 2 loss or 3 loss team. It's a freaking joke. When Alabama gets out in the real world like they have the last couple of years they get spanked. I cant wait for LSU to beat these guys, but hey....they will still be highest 2 loss team per handbook procedure.

I could go on and on....got any questions? ask em. I will try to answer... get ready for week 9. Stay focused the season is now coming into shape and remember, The Best is Yet to Come!

    My top 10

    1. Baylor
    2. Clemson
    3. TCU
    4. LSU
    5. Ohio st
    6. Michigan st
    7. Notre Dame
    8. Stanford
    9. Utah
    10. Alabama

    Baylor vs LSU

    Clemson vs Ohio st

    Picks later

Wow!! Great record man!! I agree with you on Ohio St and I think they will actually repeat as NC's.. I think they have played their worst ball and will show what this team is worth when they face Mich schools. Good luck and stay hot

gatorbear, obvious you are not wanted in this thread, but I will respond to one of your statements

Playing 5 games vs 1000 makes you no more or less likely to come out on top.  I have a degree in statistics, but I'm fairly sure this is common sense.  What would even give you such a crazy idea?  The vig is a flat percentage.

Im not really down on Ohio st... But I do have them ranked 5th in my poll for a reason ( although I do think they make the playoff due to other teams playing each other ).....

I think any real reasonable Ohio st fan believes what I believe right now that they are about the 5th best team in the country. Are they better then Clemson, LSU, TCU or Baylor right now? I dont think so....again, that's my opinion.

But if you have noticed I have been on them the last 2 weeks with big spreads... I can guarantee you not may people other then me had them blowing out Penn st. I think this team is getting better. But as I said, I just think right now in this MOMENT... They couldn't beat those 4 teams I mentioned.

certainly NCST could give Clemson a game. I have said so myself.... it's college football man..LOL anything is possible. I think tho this Clemson team is just too good on ALL 3 levels of the defense and certainly they are hitting their stride on offense...so NCST has a tall task ahead of them.

As far as N.D......yeah, I just cant see Temple hanging with these guys IMO... I think I posted N.D 41 Temple 10. Just my opinion

Good Luck this week

certainly NCST could give Clemson a game.

Playing 5 games vs 1000 makes you no more or less likely to come out on top.  I have a degree in statistics, but I'm fairly sure this is common sense.  What would even give you such a crazy idea?  The vig is a flat percentage.

dont even try man... Does it matter if I play 10-14 games a week? No..... That cat is just a hater/troll.

I mean who really gives a chit about how many games I play.

degree in statistics.  bet that was entertaining.
