Hockeynight, finally figured out the mis-matched COVID numbers from Michigan. The report to WorldOMeters website includes "probables". Those instances where no test results but they were exposed to a confirmed COVID patient and/or show symptoms. Michigan doing really good right now despite the reports from the media. Percentage of positive tests below 2%! Over 30,000 tests a day now.
Ah good catch. We are doing okay, not as well as mid-June but still not terrible. We are definitely seeing more positive cases and rule-outs where I am, but these patients aren't being admitted to the hospital. Even the older folks seem to be doing better.
Solid results from Oxford vaccine study this morning. Still much work to be done, but a promising vaccine is also the furthest along the approval tracks.

Just read the Oxford results. "Robust immune system response in all participants" ages 18-50. Now they expand testing to include children and elderly.

Interesting read. Also, the T cell response with the Oxford vaccine candidate that has been noted as the "double defense" is a big deal. Phase 3 trials are in progress, sounds like they plan to add 30,000 participants in the US as well. Moderna has a phase 3 trial starting on July 27. This is when it's actually a good thing that there is widespread infections in certain parts of the world. It will certainly speed up the timeline of collecting data. The Oxford group also has plans for what's known as a challenge trial. Those vaccinated will be purposely exposed to the virus in a controlled environment.. sounds like this will take place in lock-step with the ongoing phase 3 study.

Honestly it really doesn’t matter who takes it. The fact that it’s even available completely changes the overall perspective of this virus.
They’re even starting to find now there are many people who have T-cell immune response to this coronavirus that have never been infected. Meaning that exposure to another coronavirus (likely ones causing common colds) can offer protection against covid-19. These are probably the younger mild/asymptomatic people. So really have the vaccine available for the elderly, front line workers, and those who want to be vaccinated.
Not trying to downplay the fact that people have suffered and lost loved ones to this virus, it’s real and can be fatal... it’s just my personal opinion that even having the opportunity to vaccinate would answer a lot of the “when is such and such activity safe.”

And everyone who is voting for Trump won't take the vaccine
You have been taking in too much media garbage. I will get the vaccine as soon as it becomes available.
My father was a 27 year police officer in an integrated city. I saw what the 1967 riots did as a young boy. Watched my mother fight back the tears every night my father went to work during those riots. Almost became a state trooper myself. Wised up and went another direction. Nothing but respect for the 99.9% of good officers out there. Trump ain't the best, BUT NO WAY IN HELL I VOTE DEMOCRAT THIS ELECTION.
