Hawaii's point shaving rumors.....

"Not enough evidence to open an investigation." That's because HPD runs Half the gambling houses here.  If they investigate than they will be looking at a lot of their own. 

I'm sure this type of letter gets sent to universities all the time. What surprises me is why did UH make this public?  I really don't get that part.

Hawaii (-6) @ SJ St

Hawaii trails at halftime 20-7, but score 3 straight TDs in the 2nd half... the 3rd score comes with Hawaii leading 21-20, on a 32 yard run... 27-20, XP pending to make it an 8 point game in the 4th quarter... blocked, returned for a 2 pt conversion, making the score 27-22 (SJ covering), instead of 28-20 (Hawaii covering)...

if this is true, the last laugh was on Hawaii in that game... because SJ St scored with :30 to go, and since they were only trailing by 5 points (instead of 8), they didn't even need to make their XP to win the game... final:  SJSU 28-27



maybe this is why hawaii had major poblems on special teams early in the year!




it all makes sense now.


why hasnt the local police brought in the fbi?

yea, it's possible they were trying to lose, but based on the evidence from other games, and the nature of point-shaving, i think you're barking up the wrong tree...


and i watched the Hawaii-UNLV game... at least until i got sick to my stomach... yes!  Hawaii, and Moniz, were definitely fixing games... i would bet everything i have on it...

You got me confuse now cause your saying exactly what im say they werent point shaving they fix the game to lose ... same difference .. they made alot of money either way

actually, no, that's not what i'm saying... i'm saying they were shaving points, and when you shave points, you invariably end up losing games you weren't trying to lose...

oh ok ...well they werent just trying to shave points they were trying to lose outright and they did .... the proof is in the outcome ...lol any whatever at this point ....

i think i just discovered a "fixing" scandal involving about 40 CFB teams that lost games last weekend...

Lol.....It finally comes out! But seriously I have lived Hawaii all my life and I've suspected this somewhat but REALLY guys this kinda shit happens all around in every sport!!! But just to let you guys know a little sumthin, the coach we had before our current coach was heavily into gambling so YES he did make certain calls to make things go certain ways if you know what I mean! And how do I know? Well lets just say I knew the person he put his bets in to! So honestly this ain't any"New"news. Hawaii people LOVE to gamble.....too bad it's not legal here!

Your saying June Jones was a gamblholic an bet on his own team or against them? Now I find that hard to believe, for someone who doesnt want to be noticed you sure painteda bullseye on your back and living on an Island with that many archers is not something you want to be dong bra.

with that in mind....... hmmmm... rumors are circling about Hawaii shaving points, and they are at home against Tulane this week???  seems like the perfect opportunity to destroy Tulane and try to make people think it was never true to begin with...

this also happened in the early 90's with the Arizona St basketball team... they were shaving points, and then the week it hit the papers, they were playing Washington St, and before the story surfaced, the line had already swung like 5 points...

Arizona St (the team that was shaving points) came out and crushed Washington St...


Well if they blow Tulane out I would be way more suspicious of all this being true. That being said the a high school girls basketball team could beat the Tulane Green Waze. Bryant Moniz was so obvious in the game against UNLV. Glad I didn't have money on it...

I mean over throwing his receiver's by 20 yards on 3 step drop's with no pressure at all. Not to mention all the fumbles in that game. The funny part about watching that  game was when he over threw a receiver he was walking to the sideline's if it was 3rd down before the pass even hit the ground ( I know what my eyes saw). Again I did not wager on that game...

Yep.  Everyone is saying how can a QB be throwing games when he only threw 5 INTs on the season?  Like INTs are the only way to shave points.

Where was this information at when I needed it?  Hawaii games should've been GAME OF THE YEAR every week.  When someone has information like this, WE NEED TO SHARE THE INFO. Spread the love guys.

everyone who thinks the people that live here are "loading it up" is dumb, im local and lost tons of $ on this team betting with and against them many times..I never figure it out and a lot of locals probably feel the same.  

my opinion on this shaving points is that it's probably true but the police dont want to investigate because they are in some heat right now esp b/c a major got busted for meth possession.  I think its really easy for a single player ( like the QB or WR) to bet on themselves when it comes to player props!!! the games Moniz shouldve thrown over 300 he never really did.  Too bad football is becoming so much about money that people with power will sweep this under the rug

Ice4Blood...I concur with the two instances where our extra points got blocked and returned for 2 costing us the cover...I lost in both those games and that was hella .  our special teams are horrors, I don't know of any fbs school that had that kinda crap happen in the same season
