In one of the oddest schedule quirks on the Formula 1 calendar, the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix is sandwiched between European legs of the slate.

McLaren has continued to dominate the competition, but Oscar Piastri is now neck and neck with Max Verstappen as a co-favorite following Saturday’s qualifying.

Here's a look at the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix odds ahead of the race on Sunday, June 15.

F1 Canadian Grand Prix 2025 post-qualifying picks

Race prediction: Max Verstappen to win (+175 at bet365)

Even after earning pole position — his first of the 2025 season — Russell slots into the third-best odds to win, trailing Verstappen and Piastri.

Verstappen currently rules Montreal with three straight wins on the Gilles-Villeneuve Circuit, and this current setup is what he faced a year ago.

Russell grabbed the pole in 2024 with Verstappen in second, and the Dutchman found his way past the Brit to win the race.

The circumstances are slightly different this year, as Verstappen’s Red Bull is clearly the inferior vehicle to the McLaren, but he’s hung in there — the only non-McLaren car to win a race on the circuit, and he’s done it twice.

Barring any major race drama, Verstappen’s racing pedigree should rise and take advantage of Piastri and Norris in his rearview for one of the few times this year.

Best bet: Oscar Piastri to finish second (+160 at bet365)

The overall points leader will start third or worse for just the fourth time this season.

Piastri has yet to finish second in any race this season, winning outright an F1-best five times, with three third-place runs, and a forgettable ninth in the season-opener in Australia.

This will be Piastri’s third career race in Montreal, with a personal best of fifth in 2024. He’s come a long way since that season and has consistently shown the ability to climb through the field.

McLaren's leader started fourth in Miami and second at the Saudi Arabian GP, coming back to win both races. Russell has just one second-place finish on the year, and the only other time he was on the front row — in China — he fell back to third.

F1 Canadian Grand Prix 2025 pre-qualifying favorites

Max Verstappen has won each of the last three iterations of this race, but that's been a common theme in 2025. He's only won two of nine races, losing many of those where he has held court in recent years.

Oscar Piastri is the betting favorite with McLaren teammate Lando Norris next in line.

They are the only drivers to have reached the winner's circle in 2025, with Piastri getting five checkered flags and Norris adding two to his resume.

The only driver in the field other than Verstappen to have won the Canadian GP is Lewis Hamilton, who has won seven times. However, since last winning in 2019, he's finished third twice and fourth once.

Understanding F1 betting odds

The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.

F1 race odds usually look like this:

  • Charles Leclerc +400

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $400 if Leclerc wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:

  • Max Verstappen -120

This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on Verstappen winning the race.
