No matter how hard he tries, George Russell can’t seem to find his way out of Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli’s shadow.
Even after his second win of the year last in Austria, Russell and the rest of the field are looking up at wonderkid Antonelli, who carries +170 odds as the betting favorite in the upcoming British Grand Prix.
Russell has the second-best Formula 1 odds at +270, while Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton — a nine-time winner at the Silverstone Circuit — carries +567 odds.
He’s tied with Max Verstappen for third-best odds, after the Red Bull driver finished second in Austria, and his car legitimately competed with this year’s big boys for a checkered flag.
Lando Norris, who won here in 2025, rounds out the Top 5 with +1567 odds to go back-to-back.
Read below for my British Grand Prix predictions for July 5, as I tell you why Russell deserves more respect.

🏎️ British Grand Prix picks
Race pick: George Russell to win (+270)
It’s been a dynamic turnaround the last two races for Russell, who's shaved 28 points off Antonelli’s overall points lead with his second-place finish in Barcelona and his win in Austria. He'll be looking to capture his third straight pole, and his third win of the season.
It will be a chance to shake off some recent disappointments at his home country race.
He’s proven to be fast enough at Silverstone. He won the pole here in 2024 but finished 19th, then qualified fourth and ending up in 10th last season.
Russell is the hottest driver on circuit right now, so it’s worth taking a wager now at this number, as it will surely come down if he happens to start from the front after qualifying.
Prop pick: Lando Norris podium finish (+400)
It’s been a humbling year for McLaren, and reigning F1 Drivers’ Champion Lando Norris.
His car just hasn’t been able to compete regularly with this year’s heavy hitters, but taking a flier on him to find the podium at the Northamptonshire venue is worth it at +400.
This time last year, Norris was during his best stretch of races, winning three of four (finishing second in the other), with the British Grand Prix being a second straight win following Austria.
It hasn’t been all bad, as he finished third in Barcelona and did grab second in Miami, but this is not a victory lap season by any means.
While I don’t think McLaren is in any shape to compete for a checkered flag, Norris could be in the mix to land the podium Sunday.
🧠 How I'm picking the British Grand Prix
There’s no half-stepping at the British Grand Prix — you’re either in or you’re out.
Consider corners like the famous Copse, where there is no deceleration and drivers push their limits and carry apex speeds. Or the Hangar Straight, which runs nearly 1km and is the prime overtaking spot using the Drag Reduction System (DRS).
That’s the intensity of the Silverstone Circuit, as the nearly 6km long track features 18 intense corners, so precise, high-commitment driving is rewarded.
With Lewis Hamilton rediscovering his previous form in his new digs at Ferrari, he must be considered for a variety of wagers, including winning outright.
The British racer is an aggressive late-breaker and is an excellent manager of his tires, both considered vital to be successful at Silverstone.
He’s also the winningest driver on this track (nine), while capturing the pole seven times.
A surge in power in Austria should have bettors also looking at Max Verstappen, who might finally have the car to match his aggressive, hyper-responsive driving style which matches the demands of a high-speed circuit.
Besides Norris, another serious longshot worth considering is Hamilton’s Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc (+2400 to win, +300 to podium).
He was in the battle for the pole last week in Austria, settling for the second spot on the front row.
Leclerc has finished on the podium three times in at Silverstone, but he’s been out of the points in his last two visits, so he’s been widely disregarded.
But his ability to compete for a top lap in qualifying makes him a threat to start near the front, and his car control is among the best of all drivers, allowing him to carry momentum through high-speed corners at this track.
We’ll know more once we get to qualifying, but if you’re looking for a deep cut, Leclerc is my pick.
📋 British Grand Prix favorites
Prior to qualifying, Kimi Antonelli is the +163 favorite to win the British GP. His Mercedes teammate, George Russell, is second-choice at +285.
Rounding out the triple-digit options are Lewis Hamilton (+525) of Ferrari and Max Verstappen (+669) of Red Bull.
