After blowing a big second-half lead to lose in overtime in Week 1, it doesn’t get easier for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who must travel to Winnipeg to take on the favored Blue Bombers in Week 2.

Winnipeg was able to squeeze out a close win over Calgary in its debut and will look for a fifth win in six head-to-head meetings against the visiting Tabbies.

However, my Tiger-Cats vs. Blue Bombers predictions and CFL picks shifts to the total, where they’ve lived in the Under over the last two seasons.

Tiger-Cats vs Blue Bombers prediction

Tiger-Cats vs Blue Bombers best bet: Under 51.5 (-110)

Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 307 yards in Week 1, but his 7.9 yards per attempt suggest much of that production came underneath.

That’s concerning as he faces the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, where he's averaged just 7.6 yards per attempt and failed to top 245 passing yards in his last four games against them. Winnipeg is built to bully defensive lines and shorten games.

Brady Oliveira led a rushing attack that piled up a league-best 171 yards in Week 1, while Zach Collaros was asked to do little. If they control the ground again, I like the Under down to 49.5 points.

Tiger-Cats vs Blue Bombers same-game parlay

Getting an extra half-point on the alternate line is appealing to me because, despite the loss, Hamilton looked dominant against Montreal. The Mitchell pick-six changed the complexion of a game the Tiger-Cats had been leading by 14.

Another costly turnover in OT eventually led to a walk-off field goal, but Hamilton stayed competitive all night, and I expect the same as they try to avoid an 0-2 start.

While Winnipeg has built up a 6-3 record over the last nine meetings, Hamilton actually has been a better bet against the spread recently, going 4-3 ATS over the last seven.
