With Calgary's poor defensive play, Winnipeg is in good shape to win a high-scoring game at home against the struggling Stampeders.

The Calgary Stampeders look to end a two-game losing streak when they take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg on Friday at 8:30 p.m. (TSN).

The CFL odds have Winnipeg as a 1.5-point betting favorite, and my Stampeders vs. Blue Bombers prediction and CFL picks projected Calgary to lose yet again due to its struggling defense.

Who will win Stampeders vs Blue Bombers: Blue Bombers moneyline (-120)

Although the Calgary Stampeders are among the Grey Cup odds favorites, they continue to disappoint when they play quality defenses. Against teams that are top five in the CFL in points allowed per game, the Stamps are 0-4.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers once again have one of the top defenses in the league, allowing the second-fewest PPG (26.0) and giving up the second-fewest passing yards per game (270.0). That spells trouble for the Stampeders, especially with how brutal their defense has been this season.

Calgary is allowing league-highs in PPG (35.7) and yards per game (448.2), and even with Dru Brown behind center, Winnipeg can exploit this defense.

The Blue Bombers have won three road games in a row, despite dealing with an injury to Zach Collaros. And with how much the Stampeders' defense has struggled, taking Winnipeg to win outright at any price better than -130 is worthwhile.

Stampeders vs Blue Bombers total prediction: Over 59.5 (-120)

The Stampeders are among the least trustworthy teams in the CFL when it comes to winning, but when it comes to betting the Over? There's no team I'd rather back.

Calgary is an Over machine this season, hitting it in all six of their games, because Vernon Adams Jr. and Co. have to turn every game into a shootout. With the highest scoring offense in the CFL (37.7 PPG) and the worst defense in the league, the average point total in Calgary's games this season is 73.3.

While Winnipeg doesn't have Collaros, Brown showed last week that he's capable of dicing up bad defenses - he threw for 317 yards and two scores in a 36-34 win over the Ottawa Redblacks. And it doesn't hurt that he's throwing to a deep wide receiver corps and handing it off to one of the best running backs in recent memory, Brady Oliveira.

With the way the Stampeders are playing this season, the Over is worth considering as long as the game total doesn't balloon over 63.5 points.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Stampeders have hit the Over in eight straight games following a loss, and in seven straight games against teams with a winning record.

Stampeders vs Blue Bombers same-game parlay

This season, the Stampeders' only two wins have come against bottom-tier defenses they can beat up on. All four of their losses have come at the hands of respectable defenses, including the Blue Bombers' in Week 1.

And while Calgary has been able to penetrate those defenses to some degree, it has not been able to make up for its own non-existent defense. Against top five scoring defenses this season, the Stampeders have been outscored by an average of 36.2 to 31.7.
