The West's best meets the class of the East when the 6-2 Edmonton Elks take on the 7-1 Montreal Alouettes at Percival Molson Stadium on Saturday.

Cody Fajardo and Austin Mack are no strangers to lighting it up in La Belle Province, and my Elks vs. Alouettes predictions expect the quarterback-receiver tandem to help Edmonton keep things close as 3.5-point underdogs.

Who will win Elks vs Alouettes: Elks +3.5 (-110)

The Edmonton Elks and Montreal Alouettes enter this matchup with the best records in their respective divisions, but a spread of more than a touchdown has me backing the road team.

These two teams last met in Week 3, when the Elks prevailed 32-29 as 2.5-point underdogs. Running back Justin Rankin went off in that matchup, gashing the Als for 179 yards on the ground. This time around, Montreal will be without starting defensive backs Najee Murray and Wesley Sutton, as well as defensive lineman Mustafa Johnson and linebacker Geoffrey Cantin-Arku.

On the season, Edmonton quarterback Cody Fajardo trails only Saskatchewan's Trevor Harris in completion percentage (71.9%), while the Elks' defence has excelled at creating turnovers, ranking first in interceptions and forced fumbles.

Edmonton is 6-0 ATS in the CFL odds this season, including a 3-1 SU record on the road, and I'd play this to +3.

Elks vs Alouettes total prediction: Over 59.5 (-110)

Davis Alexander has been on a tear under center for the Alouettes, leading the CFL with 2,788 passing yards. He's also fueled the league's most productive receiving duo, with Tyson Philpot and Tyler Snead ranking first and second in receiving yards.

Both sides are averaging more than 400 yards of net offence per game and combined for 61.5 points in their last meeting despite settling for seven field goals, so I'd play the Over up to a similar threshold.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Edmonton and Montreal are both averaging more than 7.0 yards on first down and lead the CFL in yards after the catch, with each team surpassing 1,000 entering Week 10.

Elks vs Alouettes same-game parlay

With the spread sitting a point higher than it was when these teams last faced off, I'm comfortable taking the points with Edmonton.

By all means, I'm expecting a shootout at Percival Molson Stadium, and this game could very well come down to the final possession.

Elks vs Alouettes SGP

  • Elks +3.5

Elks vs Alouettes weather

The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, a 30% chance of rain, and a high of 27C.

While the chance of showers increases to 60% later in the evening, any precipitation is more likely to arrive after the final whistle, so both passing attacks should pick up where they left off.
