The New York Liberty face their former head coach, Sandy Brondello, when they host the Toronto Tempo as 8.5-point favorites tonight.
New York snapped a three-game skid with back-to-back wins over Phoenix and faces another soft defense in Toronto, which is getting beaten up inside due to injuries in the frontcourt.
Brondello’s small rotation doesn’t have an answer for Breanna Stewart, and WNBA bettors are getting a discount on Stewie’s scoring prop after a few quiet games.
My Tempo vs. Liberty predictions breakdown why Stewart thrives versus Toronto, and my WNBA picks are taking the Over on her point prop on Wednesday, June 3.
Tempo vs Liberty prediction
Tempo vs Liberty best bet: Breanna Stewart Over 18.5 points (+102)
Breanna Stewart is firing at less than 38% over the past three games.
After mustering just nine points in Friday’s win, we’re getting Stewart’s lowest scoring total of the season. This is a great time to buy back the Over, considering the competition.
The Toronto Tempo are a bad defense with a soft spot inside due to frontcourt injuries. The Tempo allow a league-high in points in the paint, and not many players are better at scoring at the rim than Stewart.
Toronto’s quicker pace and Sabrina Ionescu's absence also boost her scoring potential, which I believe sits at 20+ points.

Tempo vs Liberty same-game parlay
New York was as high as 10.5-point home chalk before Ionescu was ruled out, dropping this spread to -8.5. The Liberty have lived without the standout guard in the lineup and will lean on the frontcourt to exploit the Tempo’s lack of interior toughness.
Stewart will enjoy the up-and-down pace of this matchup with Toronto. The Tempo are by far the quickest pace New York has faced this season, and the versatile former MVP will get plenty of looks. Stewie is sixth in the WNBA in average PITP with 10.2 per game.
Jonquel Jones is battling on the board with nine or more rebounds in three straight games. With Temi Fagbenle and Isabelle Harrison still missing, the Tempo are leaning on Nyara Sabally and Laura Juskaite to hold it down inside, but those two are undersized against JJ. Toronto has the fourth-lowest rebound rate, and the uptick in pace will produce more shots – and more misses for Jones to snatch up. She’s projected for 9+ rebounds tonight.
