The Connecticut Sun and Washington Mystics will square off at CareFirst Arena, with both sides having losing records.

Washington seems to have more promise thanks to its influx of talented rookies, which is why my Sun vs. Mystics predictions back the home team to cover the spread.

Sun vs Mystics predictions

My Sun vs Mystics best bet: Mystics -7 (-110 at bet365)

The Washington Mystics have a chance to get back on track in this matchup after losing three straight contests. Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron have complemented Brittney Sykes on offense, and they're only going to get better with more confidence.

Meanwhile, the Connecticut Sun are still looking to find themselves on both ends after departing with DeWanna Bonner, Brionna Jones, DiJonai Carrington, and Alyssa Thomas over the offseason.

Connecticut’s recent win over the Atlanta Dream isn’t indicative of its real potential. Marina Mabrey’s 34 points were an oddity, and Allisha Gray’s uncharacteristically poor shooting night was a major part of that outcome. Washington has too many options for the team with the WNBA’s lowest scoring average and third-worst scoring defense.

The Mystics are 3-1 against the spread at home and have a great opportunity to build on that impressive record.

Sun vs Mystics same-game parlay (SGP)

Mystics -7

Brittney Sykes 20+ points

Brittney Sykes Under 4.5 rebounds

Brittney Sykes scored 20+ in six of the eight games she’s appeared in this season before falling flat on her face with a season-low seven points against the Liberty her last time out. She’s averaging a career-high 15.4 shots per game and will face a Connecticut team struggling to get stops.

Sykes has rookie support, but remains the go-to option for Washington ahead of this matchup.

Despite the defense, Connecticut has been able to keep Sykes off the boards, keeping her to a total of five rebounds in her previous three meetings with the Sun.
