The Mercury suddenly find themselves with a gap in the frontcourt and ask Natasha Mack to pick up the slack. Jason Logan likes Mack to up her attack as well as a rebound prop for one of Washington's stars.

The Phoenix Mercury aren’t going to the postseason and will play their remaining games without veteran forward DeWanna Bonner, who was released after a contract buyout Monday.

That leaves a big gap in Phoenix’s rotation, giving center Natasha Mack an opportunity to log extra work in the home stretch of the schedule.

Mack will get a workout against the Washington Mystics, who are 2.5-point road favorites tonight.

My Mystics vs. Mercury predictions size up the market for Mack’s player props, giving you my best WNBA picks for Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Mystics vs Mercury prediction

Mystics vs Mercury best bet: Natasha Mack Over 8.5 points +100

Phoenix Mercury center Natasha Mack has slowly been working her way back from a foot injury suffered at the end of June.

Her action has been tempered since returning on July 19, dipping from 25 minutes to 17 minutes per game over her last 11 outings. Her scoring has slimmed from 9.2 points to six points in that span.

With Bonner gone, Mack must pick up the slack. Phoenix will need her size against the Washington Mystics interior, as the lineup shrinks considerably beyond the 6-foot-4 center.

Given Mack’s uptick in floor time, my projections call for 9+ points versus Washington.

Covers COVERS INTEL: There are extra shots up for grabs. Bonner was averaging 14.5 points on 10 FGAs per game since Mack’s return. Despite a dip in Mack’s attempts (4.2 from 6.4), she’s shooting 61% over her last 11 games.

Mystics vs Mercury same-game parlay

The Mystics rocked the Mercury by 20 points in D.C. the last time these teams clashed. Washington shut down the inside and held Phoenix to just 42% shooting.

The Mercury have nothing to play for and are coming off the news of Bonner asking for her release.

Kiki Iriafen and the Mystics, on the other hand, are postseason bound and pushing to improve their playoff seeding to avoid a matchup with a Top 2 seed.

Mystics vs Mercury SGP +700
