WNBA bettors may want to catch a quick nap or put the coffee on for Wednesday’s lone matchup between the Dallas Wings at Seattle Storm, which tips off at 10:30 p.m. ET inside Climate Pledge Arena.
Dallas got a temperature check in its last game, falling by 13 points to the top-ranked Las Vegas Aces. The Wings have won eight of their last 11 outings (8-3 ATS) but can’t seem to get past the top-tier teams with those defeats coming to Vegas and Connecticut.
Seattle, however, is a far cry from those formidable foes. The Storm are at the bottom of the WNBA standings but have strung together victories back-to-back victories for the first time this season, taking down fellow basement dwellers Chicago and Indiana.
In fact, the last time these Western rivals faced off, Seattle stunned Dallas with a 109-103 win as an 8.5-point road underdog back on June 17.
I size up the WNBA odds for this standalone outing and give my best WNBA picks and predictions for Wings at Storm on August 2.

Wings vs Storm picks and predictions
The Seattle Storm have played the Wings tough in their two meetings this season, but the current version of this Dallas team is a far cry from the squad that lost to Seattle at home back on June 17.
The Dallas Wings have arguably been the second-best WNBA club over the past month, with eight wins in their last 11 games and advanced metrics that measure up alongside some of the other elite teams in the league.
Dallas, which is No. 2 in offense and No. 3 in defensive rating since June 27, has taken down contenders like Vegas and New York and won’t be taking Seattle lightly considering the outcome of that previous meeting and the fact they only edged the Storm 95-91 in Seattle back in late May.
The uptick in defense has been a real game changer for the Wings, watching their ratings improve over the past month. Dallas doesn't give up anything easy, among the most stingy teams in second-chance points, points off turnovers, as well as points in the paint.
Offensively, the Wings dominate inside and have been even more dangerous around the hoop since 6-foot-7 center Teaira McCown returned to form after being away for 10 games to play into the EuroBasket tournament. Dallas is the top scoring offense inside, averaging 41.4 points in the paint, and faces a Seattle defense allowing 38.8 PITP - second most in the WNBA.
Seattle seems to be at its peak after winning consecutive games for the first time this season, which has me selling high on the Storm. Those wins came against other terrible teams in Indiana and Chicago, with the Fever owning one of the worst defenses in the land and the Sky drifting out into space since losing head coach James Wade to the NBA at the beginning of July.
The Wings currently sit No. 5 in my WNBA power ratings and their current form would have them on the heels of Connecticut and New York (no one’s close to Las Vegas). The Storm, on the other hand, are at the bottom of my ratings.
Those ratings produce a projected spread of Dallas -7.82, which give us almost two points to play with considering the market is as low as Wings -6 tonight. Even at -6.5, bettors should feel solid about siding with Dallas.
My best bet: Dallas Wings -6.5 (-110 at BetMGM)

Wings vs Storm spread and Over/Under analysis
The Wings have enjoyed a few days off since losing at Las Vegas on July 30. They opened as 6-point road chalk in Seattle for tonight and that spread has since climbed to -6.5 at some shops as of Thursday afternoon. Covers Consensus shows just 45% of picks laying the points with the Wings.
My WNBA power ratings produced a spread of Dallas -7.82 for this matchup. The Wings were 8.5-point home chalk to Seattle in their last meeting and closed as a 4.5-point favorite at home in a 95-91 win back in late May.
Dallas has played solid basketball the past month, boasting the second-best net rating in the WNBA over those last 11 games (+11.3). The Wings have played great two-way ball in that span, scoring and slowing down foes, which includes victories over both New York and Las Vegas.
The Storm came away with wins at Indiana and Chicago in their last two outings and have been a solid bet on the road, going 7-4-1 ATS while catching plenty of points in the role of visitors. However, Seattle is just 7-6-1 ATS as a host with a league-worst net rating of -10.2 at home.
As for Wednesday’s total, the Over/Under opened at 169 points and has since dropped to as low as 167 points as of noon ET.
Dallas brings one of the best offensive attacks in the WNBA to the Emerald City and has posted scores of 103 and 95 points in two meetings with the Storm this season – both going well Over the closing total.
Seattle’s offense is very inconsistent and while it’s had success against the Wings already this year, the Dallas defense has really tightened the bolts in the past month. The Wings own a low defensive rating of 99.2 over the past 11 games versus a rating of 102.0 in the opening 14 contests of the schedule.
Dallas has topped the total in five of its last six outing but is 5-6 Over/Under in that successful stretch. Seattle wrapped a three-game road trip with a 0-3 O/U mark and has stayed below the number in five of its last six games overall.
