The Toronto Tempo finally stopped their losing streak at 12, but their injury woes have yet to go away, and that will be problematic when they take on the Las Vegas Aces today.

My Aces vs. Tempo predictions and WNBA picks for August 22 sit with the visitors, who own the second-best road record in the league.

Aces vs Tempo prediction

Aces vs Tempo best bet: Aces -13.5 -110

The Toronto Tempo's list of sidelined regulars now goes five deep, and includes leading scorer Marina Mabrey (adductor), joined now by Brittany Sykes (foot) and Aneesah Morrow (knee), also injured in the win over Portland.

The Las Vegas Aces are already playoff-bound and rank Top 6 in both scoring and points allowed.

The Aces also dominate sub-.500 opponents, winning 11 of their last 12, with each of the last four by double digits — including a 109-83 rout of Toronto. A raucous Vancouver crowd helped the Tempo snap their skid, but that won’t matter against Vegas.

I’d back the Aces up to -15.5.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Toronto’s offense will be severely lacking today. Mabrey, Sykes and Nyara Sabally are the Tempo’s three top scorers on the season, while Morrow and Maria Conde make it five out of the Top 8 inactive against Vegas. Morrow, Sabally and Conde are also three of the team’s Top 4 leading rebounders.

Aces vs Tempo same-game parlay

I don’t see A’ja Wilson going nuclear in Vancouver, partly because Vegas should have this one well in hand, which would avoid any type of star heroics from the back-to-back reigning MVP.

Plus, Wilson hasn’t been a scoring dynamo of late. She’s topped her 27.5 scoring line just once in her last eight games. She went Under in their only meeting with the Tempo, scoring 26 in just 28 minutes of work.

Kiki Rice is one of just three Tempo players in action Sunday that average double figures in scoring. She's coming off back-to-back 19-point game efforts, shooting a remarkable 75% from the field, while making it to the free throw line six times in both games.

Someone has to score for Toronto, and Rice should take some of that responsibility.

Aces vs Tempo SGP +600

  • Aces -13.5
  • A'ja Wilson Under 27.5 points
