I bet Jalen Brunson Over 2.5 threes in Game 1, based on an expected uptick of outside shots. That was right (his third most 3PAs in a postseason game) but Brunson couldn’t cash in on those opportunities, finishing with only two triples. The Spurs won’t pressure the perimeter much, in order to keep the Knicks off the offensive glass, and seven of Brunson’s nine 3PAs in Game 1 were graded as “open” to “wide open” without a defender within at least four feet. Game script has New York playing from behind, giving even more reason for Brunson to be aggressive from outside. Getting Over 2.5 higher than +150 is a gift considering volume and Game 2 adjustments.

Towns taking only a pair of 3-pointers is concerning. But the Spurs should try to cut off his drives to the rim after they found such success in Game 1. And doing so should, naturally increase Towns’s 3-point attempts. Going 0-of-2 in Game 1 lowered his postseason 3-point shooting percentage to 46.8%. Someone hitting nearly half their 3-pointers should not be priced at +150 to hit a pair of threes in Game 2.
