San Francisco @ Philadelphia Game Overview

The Giants captured two of three games against the Yankees over the weekend and have taken two of the first three in their four-game series with the Phillies.

Mike Yastrzemski, Jung Hoo Lee, Wilmer Flores and Patrick Bailey each drove in two runs in an 11-4 victory Wednesday as San Francisco improved to 9-3 on the road this season.

"I get asked about the resiliency a lot," Giants manager Bob Melvin said. "We've shown that the entire season. That's who these guys are."

The Giants squandered a 4-2 lead Wednesday before recovering to score the final seven runs of the game. Much of their damage came against an uncharacteristically wild Aaron Nola, who walked four in dropping to 0-4 this season.

"They're a scrappy team," Nola said. "They found some holes and got some good hits. They put some pressure on me."

Meanwhile, Lou Trivino logged two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win for San Francisco. He combined with Camilo Doval and Spencer Bivens to allow just one hit over five scoreless frames in relief of Robbie Ray.

"I think this team is very talented," Trivino said. "It's great to see the kind of pitching that we have. Just to be a part of it, I'm very thankful."

Jordan Hicks (1-1, 5.87 ERA) will aim to continue that theme when he gets the nod for San Francisco on Thursday. The hard-throwing right-hander surrendered seven runs in four innings Saturday in an 8-4 loss to the Yankees following two productive starts to begin his season.

"I feel like I had some good stuff today, probably threw a few too many fastballs," Hicks said after that game, noting that the cold and rainy conditions in New York were among the worst he's ever pitched in. "I had the off-speed working, so I should've just thrown more of that and mixed it better. Live and learn, and move on to the next one."

Hicks has appeared in 13 career games against the Phillies, but only one start. He is 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA lifetime against them.

Cristopher Sanchez (1-0, 3.12) will get the ball for Philadelphia as the left-hander looks to win his second straight start. He defeated St. Louis 4-1 on Saturday, limiting the Cardinals to one run and eight hits over 6 1/3 innings.

He benefited from inducing double-play grounders in four of the first five innings.

"That keeps me in the game, too," Sanchez said of the twin killings. "That's one of the reasons I was able to stay out there until the seventh inning. I love double plays. The defense did a great job today."

Sanchez has made three appearances (one start) against the Giants in his career, going 1-0 with an 0.84 ERA. The one start came last season, when he blanked San Francisco over six innings in a 6-1 win on May 29.

Following Thursday's contest, the Giants will head to Anaheim, Calif., for a three-game set against the Los Angeles Angels. The Phillies will host the Miami Marlins for a weekend series.
