Sevilla vs Arsenal Predictions and Picks: Don't Let Sevilla's Reputation Trick You

Despite their strong reputation in European competitions, Sevilla is struggling domestically and haven't had similar success in the Champions League. Arsenal is a rightful favorite and our UCL betting picks think they'll take care of business.

This Tuesday, we have a Champions League meeting between Sevilla and Arsenal.

Both clubs would have been hoping to win Group B but find themselves trailing Lens after two games. Arsenal now face a tricky away trip to Sevilla, a team with incredible European pedigree and a knack of winning big continental games.

Can Mikel Arteta’s team pick up three valuable points or will Sevilla continue to show why they are so feared in European competition? Read our free betting picks for Sevilla vs. Arsenal below to find out.

Sevilla vs Arsenal picks and predictions

This match already feels like a must-win game for both teams as they look to qualify from Group B into the next stage of the Champions League. With Lens unexpectedly leading and PSV also involved, it's actually one of the harder groups with some talented clubs involved.

While Sevilla don’t carry the status of Barcelona or Real Madrid — having not won La Liga since 1946 — they are well known for being successful in Europe, even if it’s the continent’s second tier of competition. They have managed to win the Europa League seven times in the past 18 years, most recently last year.

That’s one of the reasons that Arsenal would have looked at Sevilla in Group B, and this away game in particular, as a tricky game and one that would probably be their biggest test in the group. Following that 2-1 defeat to Lens in their last UCL game, it's now made this road trip even more important. I do expect them to handle business here and backing them with my best bet.

I actually think Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Saturday is indicative of a mental toughness and resilience that Arsenal have developed in the past 18-24 months that simply wasn’t there previously. They are now a team of winners, something that couldn’t be said for a long time. They’ll need that against Sevilla, who have real pedigree in Europe.

And while Sevilla are well known for being near ever-presents in the knockout stages of the Europa League, they don’t have the same record in the Champions League and are struggling domestically at the moment.

Their history in Europe is scary but Arsenal should have no fear of a team who are 13th in La Liga, having won just two of their nine games. They’ve allowed more than a goal per game, something we haven’t traditionally seen from them in Europe where they’ve won through defensive stability and organization.

They still have former Man City player Jesus Navas at right-back in defense alongside fellow 37-year-old Sergio Ramos. Both players have had great careers but playing two 37-year-olds, alongside a very temperamental left-back in Marcos Acuna who’ll have to face Bukayo Saka  is an accident waiting to happen.

As much as this is a big game and one that is tough on paper, I think it’s one which the Gunners should comfortably win.

My best bet: Arsenal to win (-133 at TonyBet)

Sevilla vs Arsenal same-game parlay

Arsenal to win

Ben White Over 0.5 fouls committed

Marcus Acuna to get booked

If you take Sevilla’s reputation out of the equation then you’re backing a team who have won six of nine Premier League games, scoring 18 goals and conceding eight to beat a team 13th in La Liga having only won two games.

Next up, we’re backing Arsenal right-back Ben White to commit a foul. Ben White isn’t a player you normally associate with fouling and domestically, he’s only given up 0.7 fouls per game in his EPL season. In the Champions League, that’s risen to 1.5 fouls per game, which potentially shows that his inexperience at the UCL level might be making him more of a risk to commit fouls.

Finally, we’ll be backing Sevilla’s Argentinian left-back Marcos Acuna to get booked. Acuna is a player with real discipline problems. At the World Cup in Qatar, we saw him get booked in half of his games and he was a constant problem for his country with his rash tackling.

Domestically this season, he’s only been booked once but don’t forget that he got nine yellows and three red cards in just 30 La Liga games for Sevilla last season. He finds himself up against Bukayo Saka, who will cause him real problems with his speed and guile.

Sevilla vs Arsenal side and Over/Under analysis

I’m backing Arsenal to win this one as evidenced by them being my best bet at -133. I try not to bet on teams to win unless it’s plus money but I think the opportunity is too big here.

I think the only reason people are hesitant about Arsenal winning is because of Sevilla’s past in a different European competition. I’m not worried about that and think the -133 on Arsenal is far better value than +330 on Sevilla or +290 on the draw.

If you want to back anything on the total, you can get Over 2.5 goals at -125 or +100 on Under 2.5 goals. Both teams to score is -133 with the No side of that available at -105. I’m not overly keen on any of those markets and don’t have a strong lean.
