Two European powers will meet for the FIFA Club World Cup crown as Chelsea faces PSG in the final at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

The Blues hope to add a second piece of hardware to their cabinet this year, but it will require defeating a PSG side that have terrorized European opponents over the past two months.

Find out why that’s unlikely to happen in our Chelsea vs. PSG predictions and FIFA Club World Cup free picks for  July 13.

PSG vs Chelsea picks and predictions

My PSG vs Chelsea best bet: PSG -1.5 (+164 at FanDuel

What makes PSG’s run over the past two months more impressive is who they’ve beaten during it.

Just look at their path through the knockout stages. After dismantling Inter Miami, they had to take on Bayern Munich and see out the final eight minutes plus stoppage time down a man  then went down another, before scoring four minutes later to seal the win.

Next came a Real Madrid side that looked to be in fine form. That lasted all of six minutes before PSG took an early lead, which they doubled just three minutes later. It was 3-0 at halftime, and PSG cruised to a 4-0 victory.

That’s not to say Chelsea won’t be a tough test, but the Blues reached this point by edging past Benfica in extra time, then sneaking by Palmeiras thanks to a late own goal. A pair of goals from Joao Pedro led to a 2-0 win over a Fluminense side missing two key players.

However, Chelsea have played just one match against a European side in this competition, and not a great one at that. In their last six matches against European clubs, they’ve managed multiple goals in regulation just once.

PSG’s last five matches in knockout stages have seen them score 18 goals without conceding a single one. They boast a stronger midfield, a superior front line, and a significantly better goalkeeper.

They’ve won four straight matches by multiple goals, and nine of their last 10 outings have seen them win by a margin of at least two. Taking PSG on the spread is a no-brainer for me, especially at a price of +164.

PSG -1.5

Ousmane Dembele to score or assist

Both teams to score No

Since returning from injury against Inter Miami, Ousmane Dembele has been reminding people why he’s likely to win the Ballon d’Or this year. He created two chances in just 28 minutes against the Herons, followed by scoring against Bayern Munich in just 20 minutes.

He then built on that performance with a start against Real Madrid, where he scored and assisted in under an hour. Dembele will cause real problems for Chelsea’s back line and will likely be involved in one of their goals.

PSG haven’t conceded in the knockout stages, and have kept clean sheets in seven of their last eight matches. Chelsea have 10 big chances missed in this tournament, the third-most of any team, and have often enjoyed the bulk of possession to make up for those misses.

That won’t be the case here. PSG’s midfield is stellar at winning back the ball and keeping it, and Gigi Donnarumma has been amazing the past few months. Chelsea won’t find the back of the net in regulation.
