Two unlikely Premier League participants will decide the Europa League champion on Wednesday when Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United meet at Estadio San Mames in Bilbao, Spain.
Ange Posticoglu is likely in his final days as manager, but he has a chance to prove his words to be prophetic and win a trophy in his second season at the helm of Spurs. Ruben Amorim has seen his side perform horribly in league play, but a win in the final would see the Red Devils become just the fourth team to ever navigate the Europa League without a defeat.

My Man United vs Tottenham best bet: Manchester United to lift the trophy (-126 at FanDuel)
To say that Tottenham have dominated their three meetings with Manchester United this season is a bit of an understatement. After all, the Red Devils haven’t led for a single second in the three matches, while Spurs have led for better than 90% of the three outings.
But to win on Wednesday requires Tottenham to do something they’ve not done before.
Midfielders James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall will miss out due to injury, along with winger Dejan Kulusevski. It will be just the third time all campaign that all three players have been out of the lineup, and Spurs lost 2-0 to Villa on Friday and drew Bournemouth 2-2 two months ago without them.
Bergvall has been terrific in the double pivot role, and his ability to move the ball from defense to attack has been vital during their Europa League run. But the loss of creativity in the final third will be felt heavily, as Maddison and Kulusevski have created 128 chances between them in all competitions.
For Manchester United, it solves two big concerns.
The Red Devils have struggled at times with transition defense, and Bergvall’s absence will take away a major threat to their core.
Additionally, Kulusevski has been a menace to their defense. He scored in the 4-3 Tottenham win in the EFL Cup, and created a whopping nine chances in their 3-0 win back in September.
But the Red Devils were much better in their 1-0 loss away in February, and were unfortunate not to score just before Tottenham’s lone goal. Spurs felt the absence of Dominic Solanke up top that day, but Man United was without Amad Diallo themselves.
While the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho aren’t scoring consistently, the way Spurs defenses allows them to get behind the defense and use their pace. Garnacho is likely to come off the bench with fresh legs, and Spurs will have problems limiting Diallo’s dribbling ability while keeping an eye on Bruno Fernandes.
Manchester United have never had a seven-match winless streak against Spurs, which is what would happen should they fail to win here. And Spurs have never defeated a team four times in a single season.
Neither will change here.
Man United have simply looked a different side in Europa League, and have navigated a far tougher road to reach the final. The injuries to key Spurs attackers will be their undoing, and Fernandes will lift the trophy as the Red Devils miraculously secure Champions League football for next season.
Man United vs Tottenham same-game parlay (SGP)
Only Rayan Cherki of Lyon has more goal involvements in Europa League this season than Bruno Fernandes, who could draw level with the winger should he contribute in the final.
He’s notched seven goals and four assists and is at the heart of everything the Red Devils achieve in the final third. The captain has stepped up in the biggest moments of need throughout this competition and will be involved yet again.
Dominic Solanke has scored in his last four appearances against Man United in all competitions, and will be the focal point of the attack on Wednesday.
He’s scored in his last three starts in all competitions, including both semi-final legs against Bodo/Glimt, and will be a threat on set pieces. He’s averaging 1.13 SOT/90 in Europa League this season and will test Andre Onana at least once.
